What other options did the coaches/Hue have given the available options though, FGK?? Should they have just left Corbett at LG and Bitonio at LT if Corbett's play was not up to par and Bitonio was solid but not his pro-bowl self at LT? Was it better to have Cam Heyward on a struggling LG Austin Corbett or a pro-bowl LG Joel Bitonio that only had a week back at his second nature position? The "jerking" the OL around was necessitated by injury and more importantly the play failures of certain players given the opportunity to take over the position... Plan 1: Shon Coleman at LT... plan failed....stay the course with plan 1 or move on to plan 2... Plan 2: Play Austin Corbett at LT... plan failed.. Corbett exposed as pro interior player... Joe Thomas and the scouting community confirms... either stay the course or move on to plan 3.... Plan 3: Play a diminished Joel Bitonio temporarily at LT, Greg Robinson at LT, Christian DiLauro at LT, or Chris Hubbard our starting RT at LT... Desmond Harrison is injured and unavailable... the plan can't wait for him at this time.....Coaches decide to play Bitonio there and hope Corbett ascends... plan failed... Corbett struggles... either stay the course or move to plan 4... Plan 4: Harrison is healthy and shows out in practice and preseason... decision is to Play Desmond Harrison at LT and let Joel go back to excelling at LG... Coaches believe combo of Desmond Harrison LT and Bitonio LG is stronger than LT Bitonio and LG Corbett... plan in progress.. ---------------------------- It was a decision that indicates we aren't good. I didn't pay enough attention to what Corbett was doing at LG in preseason to know if he really warranted being pulled for a udfa LT. I think that's where most people who criticize this stand. It should take a lot of really bad other options to lead to this. I think he'll be fine once he develops though.
BleedTheClock
Desmond Harrison and Austin Corbett were both 2nd round talents. Off-field concerns are what drove Harrison way down on the draft board. He's a different kind of UDFA than we're accustomed to getting. This is honestly the exact starting unit I would have rolled with (Harrison/Bitonio/Tretter/Zeitler/Hubbard) when looking at our roster post-draft. Corbett is going to be fine. I think he'd be a fine starter now, but he's not dethroning either of our starting guards. He'll likely be our long-term center next season. Nothing wrong with that...especially because I expect Desmond Harrison to eventually settle down and excel at LT.

The issue with preseason was the back ups and the starting right guard when Zeitler was out. Harrison has shown flashes of being a pretty darn good and nasty LT. That peel back block he had during the game where he straight decleated a dude was a thing of beauty! harrison was the wild card. I don’t think he would be this far along as he is because of where he was coming from. I think this next game will tell us a lot about him. Let’s see how much he improved having a week of game tape to watch of him going up against two really really good DEs in Tuitt and Heyward. Also should be an easier scheme for him. IMO it’s easier for tackles to block 4/3 schemes the 3/4. 3/4 you have to worry about DE playing inside very hard and getting a blitz off the edge from the backer
MSURacerDT55
Get Harrison in now, he should be rolling by Mid Season, I totally understand the logic
NudeTayne
How would y'all feel if we sent over, say, a 4th rounder to Baltimore for their number 3 tight end, a guy by the name of Mark Andrews? Hayden Hurst is set to return in a week or so, and they are heavily invested there. Nick Boyle is seeing a lot of action and looks pretty good, and they have investment in Maxx Williams, though of course I hear that he was close to the chopping block(?). As Andrews was grabbed late in the draft, I could see a 4th rounder doing it. For what it's worth, I had Mark Andrews as a mid third-rounder in the draft. I like his game and of course the familiarity with Baker. I could see the Ravens choosing Andrews over Williams, though I don't think the difference is that big if they are to get a decent draft pick out of it and just keep Williams. Hurst and boil look like they are set on the roster, so we are just talking about the third tight end position.

Being overly cocky and not producing is a recipe for the chopping block. He is a decent blocker; a true Y TE at 6'4 260. He can run routes, catch and block. I'd trade for him and dump prison Charles if the price was low enough.

I actually would love the idea of coming in soft on Maxx Williams to the Ravens, offering a 6th or so. then when we are rebuffed, we could nonchalantly mention that we'd take Andrews then. I want Andrews more but also understand the mind game of trades, especially in division.

NateDawg
These receivers are going to really struggle now. Very much so. I can see it now. Jarvis getting all the attention. Higgins getting blanketed one on one and Callaway with the occasional splash play but inconsistent due to inexperience. I also foresee Tyrod getting constant flack from fans blaming the numbers solely on the QB. They will soon cry “Baker, Baker.” And Hue will cater. Eventually yes, he gives in. The fans will get what they asked for. And yes, Baker will be out there too soon.

Kiwibrown
the biggest loser in the whole JG story in all of this is hue Jackson. 1. JGs biggest advocate in Cleveland was Hue. 2. Hue said Jg wouldn't start, Haley starts him. 3. JG states he is good and locked into cleveland, he stuff up/dorsey bounces on a chance to cut him. Hue has been trolled by JG, Haley and Dorsey. Hue Jacksons time in Cleveland is over, deadman walking, Jackson is gone by the bye week, Haley takes over.
