I also think it's misleading, since we haven't seen the line with Elflein healthy. Easton is likely your starter, which means Isidora and Compton are competing to be the top interior reserve.

Again, it’s still outstanding to see from your second year, 5th round pick.

The fact that it’s simply not going to Compton outright speaks for Isidora’s development.

Daniel House at Vikings Corner was impressed with Isidora today: http://www.mnvikingscorner.com/2018/07/day-3-training-camp-notebook-laquon.html

One of the offensive lineman who had a strong showing was guard Danny Isidora. He had numerous positive reps in pass protection during the 11-on-11 drills. Isidora also down blocked hard to open a rushing lane during a team running drill. Isidora was working with the second team in practice, so it will be interesting to see whether he moves up the depth chart and earns reps with the starters on Tuesday.

Arif's training camp notebook (through Sunday) is less complimentary but still more positive about Isidora than Compton: https://zonecoverage.com/2018/vikings/training-camp-notebook-days-1-4/

The two guards that have been filling in as a result Elflein’s recovery schedule, Tom Compton and Danny Isidora, have predictably struggled. Compton worries me more; like Elflein, he’s prone to lifting both feet off the ground during the rep and losing any anchor he could have had. He pops his pads up early, and doesn’t seem to play with much power. He’s allowed Johnson to shine, and even got rocked by an excellent bull-jerk move that I didn’t know Anthony Harris had.

Isidora has played better, but not necessarily very well. He’s had difficulty staying low in drills and has been inconsistent as a mover. While he can show great agility and speed in screens and pulls, he also has a lot of trouble making contact at the second level, often relying on a last-second lunge that doesn’t accomplish much. That said, he shows better strength and anchor than Compton has.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins was on the money Monday in the red zone, and his favorite target of this practice was wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. Cousins and Treadwell connected for three touchdowns during a 7-on-7 session inside the 20-yard line, with the quarterback tossing five touchdowns overall in the drill.

Cousins first hit wide receiver Stefon Diggs for a 12-yard score before finding Treadwell in the end zone from 10 yards out. Tight end Kyle Rudolph then caught a score before Treadwell made his best catch of the day, a leaping grab in the back left corner of the end zone with Xavier Rhodes draped on him. Treadwell then finished off the drill with another score.

Seems like I've heard more about Hill than Hughes out of camp. Is it just greater fascination with late rounders/UDFAs or is he actually looking better?

oh no, Hughes has looked fiiiiiiine. the vets comment on how he doesn't play like a rookie.

Hughes is getting reps everywhere on multiple units and it appears that he is turning heads of the veterans at camp. Mackensie Alexander is getting the majority of the snaps with the first team defense in the slot, but do not be surprised if Hughes pushes them.

Rhodes: “He didn't look like a rookie today.”

For a split second on Tuesday afternoon, Darren Woodson must have felt like he was back in Dallas.

The four-time All-Pro safety was out at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center to check in on Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer, who was Woodson’s position coach and defensive coordinator with the Cowboys during a 10-year stretch from 1994-2003.

So much of the wide receiver position is about confidence. The quarterback having confidence in you and the player having confidence in himself.

I’m loving the way that Treadwell is attacking the ball in the air and displaying confidence in his ability to come down with it. He may never win in terms of creating separation but he’s got strong hands and knows how to play the ball away from his body.

Keep it up young man.
