@EaglesPeteC

@Forge

We do you guys think we should spit out the sign up sheet?

Might be kinda hard to figure this out since we aren't sure which one to start first, gonna attempt to run two versions this year.  A reduced mock with single year fa bidding and the big one.

Not sure if this helps but I'm thinking of having the fa bidding rounds for the individual mock every other day or every 3rd day max with the draft starting the day after the combine.  Not sure where that would put us with a start date.  So maybe we need to figure that out first.  I'll have more time to work on this after the 24th of this month.

Agree with Pete, we should get the signup sheet up next week. Some people have made claims on teams already, so not sure if we are using that or not, but that lowers the number of teams that we must fill.

Start sign ups next week. Official start date Feb 4th, the Monday after the Super Bowl. That give us a month to do trades and free agency before the draft

Pete I know you're looking to get an early start but Feb. 4th doesn't work for me.  I'm still a long ways out from having things ready to go for this year.

The combine ends March 4th - http://www.nfl.com/combine

Last year we started the draft on the 7th of March right after round 7 of the fa.  With an official start date on Feb 15th.

Give the schedule from last year a look.

I'm thinking around the 14th of Feb would be a solid starting spot.  If something changes on my side I'll let you guys know, but this looks good for now.

Now I'm fine for whenever you think we should post a signup thread, I don't think we'll have any issues filling it up, you might note when you post it that if they don't get selected to manage this mock that they'll be looked at to manage the second mock.

So this is still a ways out from being completed but wanted to get your take on it before pushing forward.

This sheet will be used to manage your own team rosters.  The previous version we used did a solid job of allowing you to release players from the rosters but adding them took some work.

The idea is to combine the team roster and fa trans workbook into one, and have the official team roster linked to provide the player listing.

I've set this up so that you can edit the "Obtained and Status" columns in column B if the status from the original team roster doesn't match what you've got it'll flag a checkbox.  Below your roster, will contain all pending transactions, currently only set up to manage restructure and extensions.

When you use the restructure and or extension sheets to create a passed contract, it'll show up at the bottom of the team roster sheet and get calculated into the top 51.

This will provide you with an accurate salary cap with each transaction you set up.

Give it a go and let me know what you guys think.  If you see any issues with it and whatnot.  Note that this is currently only set up to manage the 2019 year, more to follow just hoping to get your take on it.  Last year, I got a ton of questions on how to add players to your own private workbook and I think this might be the best solution to keeping an accurate cap as you build contracts.

will this stay populated after the round for FA adds or are we still manually adding them after the round?

The idea is, that once I update the rosters after each bidding round, those names that you signed in that round will be added to your roster by me, with your roster being linked to the rosters that I update.  Anything that isn't matched up will be checked in column B and you may need to change the Obtained and Status columns to reflect, but that would be far less work than adding them in yourselfs.

As for the pending transactions, they would clear out automatically once they have officially been added to the official rosters.

Hope that made sense.  This is something new I'm trying so I'm not 100% sure will have to do some testing to find out once I merge the fa workbook into this one.

So then we can start the signup thread like Monday Feb 4th. Do you think we'll fill all 32 spots in 11 days? We could push the sign ups up maybe to like Wednesday Jan 30th to give us a bit more time to see if we need to find a couple straggler GM's

gotcha, so when you edit the master rosters it will populate on our sheets so each round we will know FOR SURE what we have and that the numbers are right. That probably fixes my biggest annoyance from last year.

Yes at least that is the idea.  It works great with the restructure / extension but I'll know more once I get the other fa contract sheets worked into the workbook.

I know that you and D82 had a hard time with managing the private workbooks, actually just about everyone new has had a difficult time with that workbook and I'm hoping this reduces your stress levels with this one...haha.

Question bud.  Any chance of you producing tcmd with another awesome sig, that could be shared with whomever would like to add it?

I always stress this and each year we fill up in a matter of a few days, but I think we should get it started on the 30th.

Did last years signup thread work out with having members list their three favorite teams?

Okay, I've been working on the revised workbooks the last few days, and I'm looking to finalize some rule changes for this year.

I'm currently working on the new rules for the additional FA bid, to be used as a sub, should one of your bids not win.  This also allows you the option to bid on the same position and if rewarded with one of the official bids the sub bid player will not be added to your roster.

I know that some of you had mentioned, that this new sub bid should take the place of one of the UFA/Resign bids, but if this option is open to everyone I don't think it would unbalance the bidding process.  However, if you feel different about this please state your case and we can certainly debate it.

As it stands, you'll have the 3 UFA/Resign bids and the 1 Locked Resign bid just like always.  The new substitute bid does have some criteria and guidelines that I've either worked into the workbook or will be doing so over the next few days.

iPP4WZtmoeglYO9jYqTHrVmqP91k9lJnWark0_GWWmq67D1Hzgca3BYq_30cscxVcij6N1np7NOumE0O1nk1YtkFBwl7jvkjspDdcCng37bpU7V6utrGCBfz4c22Yka8vpsXzXq6R3tPF1dKU8evuJbNDcs-o8m2Bj8UaVzC5iiXBn-b8SRmwXWx1dLn_3jvxOhjPif2XM3F7x5UkaPKbQArfXJe54hdHEzDHkFKXQBEVhGtDHbJnZYm7hGXs8kdibF-kOeQ3mS08GCsc-gRB2bu3_Xlg3Cy5xFEKKKxLA7tlC3q5yTKmqOLGUsD5yPZvHQ0E3ydrLuX0mBtxdbwc2j4bfMhXqC1XM3_y7i6aRaI9rMSUv4_5aEO5UHE-qeZ-Pa4bQuLorv4N6mjOdIAQ1Ddq4hK_fyCN5e7NOKm4K74NWcfXjC6dL2nTyhrweDHocE-SOig-svBhz9bfaoTlPJGUJizoYORbTN0qgQsTlkTeoO_ZbIWZy_sVUZgdhMg_dxQMAgI4FwwxZQN8mopGBksJVEhWl9919y-oDgulG63NSgaqxHeofqLmdASmqe9JvjriHXrmsf-N-AAbK3l5oaK6YSSrLXLwn_9bDY_Cy9I6uJtc0PqEN4eq-slVlUyAZL7MulWm0GnUB5XLHDtBfbv=w1495-h455-no

Note:  I'm still working the formulas for much of this sheet

To use this sub bid, you'd first select which number bid you'd like for this to sub in place of at the top middle.

  • The bid cannot be used to offer the player you are subbing a higher contract.  So if you are offering Josh Mauro 10 million APY in bid number 2 you can't use this to offer him 16 million APY in the sub bid.
  • Keeping with this sample, if Bid 2 you are bidding on a 34DE, then that is the same position you'll be bidding on in the sub bid, this sub bid isn't geared to allow you to use it to simply bid on the top talent regardless of position.
  • If Bid 2 is used as a UFA, then UFA is what the sub bid will be.
  • If Bid 2 is used as a Resign or you use this sub bid to sub bid number 4 (Resign) then you can use this to sub any position that was on your roster last year.
  • The salary cap will calculate the highest offer between the sub bid and the bid number you're using to sub.

If you guys have any major issues with the way this is set up, let's hear it now.  I won't be making changes to this stuff once it's finished.

Other Stuff worth noting:

I've been merging the team roster and the fa transaction workbook into one which is taking some time, but so far it looks like the new private team roster workbooks are going to allow us to maintain an accurate salary cap in real time, so when you create restructures in that particular sheet, you'll get the exact number of your salary cap.  Same with free agent bids, which will in theory prevent you from going over the cap.  I'm still working on this project to figure out exactly how or if we'll provide any wiggle room for going over the cap slightly on fa bids.

We won't be using the base guar./ roster and workout bonuses to build contracts this year.

You'll have to use base salary and signing bonuses to build your contracts.

Max contract length is 5 years with the exception of extensions going as high as 6 years.

The players preferred contract terms are now required with the exception of contract lengths, you'll still be able to change those from his preferred down to one year deals.  Base / Bonus / Length will still be reduced 10% after each bidding round, so if the players asking price in guaranteed funds is to high, you'll need to wait a couple rounds for it to decrease.

Once contracts hit vet min, no required signing bonus, but you can still add it to the contract.

Declining Vets will still decrease their contract terms at a faster rate, like normal.

Tag n Trade is still not an option in this version of TCMD, we will look to include this in the mini version.

If you've got questions or concerns with any of this stuff let's hear it asap.
