I also do this. Between this and the finger rubbing on the edge, I can get about 80% of them open in a reasonable amount of time. But my bedroom trash can and bathroom trash can use much smaller bags and they don’t have the pull tabs. Chicago instituted a plastic bag tax, so I don’t get grocery bags to reuse for trash anymore, so I have to go with the roll of bags without the ties. Assume you mean grocery bags. Yeah, it sucks. But it cuts down on a ton of waste, so I guess I can deal. I occasionally get a few still, because restaurants don’t have to tax for them, but not nearly as many as I used to. Before they did the tax, they had a plan to get every business to use use these much heavier plastic bags. They rolled out the requirement to large merchandisers for a year, but found that people were still just throwing them away rather than re-using them.
