Not completely ST related but still important.

I really wish we go with Vedvik as the kicker and Wile the punter but I just don't see it happening.

I would actually love to see them go for it and have Vedvik do both, but that won't happen.  Otherwise, I think the safest bet is to have Bailey kick and Vedvik punt.  I don't trust Wile to be consistent enough.

I am curious what about Bailey's year and practices as a Vikings player is any more trustworthy then Wile strictly as a punter?

I trust him more based on his track record in Dallas.  I discount his performance a little here, because of Wile being the common denominator in holding for Bailey and for Daniel Carlson.

I already assume moving on from Wile as a holder but as a punter he just seems more reliable then Bailey's seemingly having mental issues with kicking from the right hash in practices even when Wile is not holding for the kick.

Dan Bailey didn’t miss Wednesday, nailing all six kicks he attempted in team sessions. Matt Wile held for the first three kicks when Bailey was good from 33, 39 and 42 yards. Chad Beebe replaced Wile later in practice for the final three attempts. Bailey was true from 44 and 46 yards before ending his day with a 50-yard attempt.

I wonder if the Vikings have put down all hope on Kaare Vedvik as a holder. If the team cuts Wile to use Vedvik as the punter it would seem good to have Vedvik holding too. But, if Beebe is good enough at that I suppose that is fine too. I am just not used to the Vikings using a position player as the holder.

could be the case the new special teams coach has a fake punt play or two in mind and Beebe fits that better, who knows...

It’s concerning that they didn’t have this narrowed down before the trade.

oh i don't know, not necessarily. i think it's more a matter of having a guy who is very unique and usable and evaluating both his strengths and the two existing kickers'. that takes a week or two of practices.

What happened to the days of the backup QB being the holder?  I know that used to happen all the time across the league.

I think it’s a trend that has gone away with less and less practice time for players.

The team needs their backup QB to focus as much as they can on the offensive game plan. While the specialists can spend all of practice working on their timing.
