1991 Week 2 Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) at Buffalo Bills (1-0)

Sunday Sep 8, 1991
Start Time: 1:00pm
Stadium: Rich Stadium

On a sunny day at Rich Stadium, The Buffalo Bills decide to slam the hammer down on the Pittsburgh Steelers. QB Jim Kelly has a career day tossing 6 touchdowns with receivers Don Beebe and Andre Reed both eclipsing the century mark. Even with Barry Foster rushing for 121 yards on 9 carries, the Steelers just didn't have the offensive firepower to match up against Buffalo's 537 yards of total offense. Side story is kicker Scott Norwood finally getting off the off the schneid following his missed kick at Super Bowl 25. He was 0/2 on field goals until he nailed a 50 yarder in the first quarter. The crowd showed their appreciation.

I had totally forgotten that Bledsoe actually came back into the game for a series after the Mo Lewis hit.

For as much as Bledsoe's legacy has been buried, he deserves a lot of credit for helping the franchise claw its way back to respectability, and also being one of the tougher QBs I've ever watched.

2006 Week 1 New Orleans Saints (0-0) at Cleveland Browns (0-0)

Sunday Sep 10, 2006
Start Time: 1:04pm
Stadium: Cleveland Browns Stadium
Attendance: 72,915
Time of Game: 3:03

Best era of Saints football started on this day nearly 15 years ago following the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Drew Brees' first game as Saint along with Sean Payton. Heisman winner Reggie Bush debuts as one of the most hyped players coming out of college in NFL history. 7th round unknown rookie Marques Colston also makes his first start in his first game. The Cleveland Browns are looking to improve upon their 6-10 record in 2005 with head coach Romeo Crennel in his second year. This game is pretty lackluster, and if anything will probably simply be remembered only for it's place in history as the inception of better days for Saints fans.

Side note: You'll notice new Lions head coach Dan Campbell is actually in this game as #80 for the Saints. Made his bones mostly as a blocker at TE in the NFL for quite a few years. Also, kind of cringe seeing Kellen Winslow Jr. out there making plays in light of how his life as gone.
