They chuck the ball around really well - especially the deep "Okay Brice...here we come" variety. So we better have ALL our DBs healthy and on the field. No more practice hammys. And when they're not doing that - they have this really good running back......the name escapes me at the moment....but I've heard he's not too shabby :)

Sounds like you don't like the match ups.

Do you like the match ups better with Alexander and Breeland playing? I'm hoping that would allow us to play Tramon at S some to take away the deep ball. Gurley is going to be a handful.

Well I cant speak to direct man to man match ups - but I definitely like what Alexander brings to our secondary. The guy's got skills and the attitude to play the position IMO. Whereas HHCD may seem to lay back a bit at times, I see Alex as somebody who's gonna get in there and mix it up.

I like Breeland - from what I can remember of his WA days and the highlight video somebody posted in a different thread - he looks like a playmaker. Not a burner necessarily, but he's gonna be around the ball contesting receptions. PBU's are a big part of his game. We've only got him on the dotted line for the remainder of this season - so I'd like him to start contributing sooner rather than later. Plus - he's a veteran presence in a really young group of starters.

The matrix secondary of KK, JJ, Alex, Breeland.....I like them all and each is contributing at unequal levels now as they grow into themselves. They've got to stay healthy. We cant be losing their coverage skills cause - as we all know - our pass rush is challenged at best.

I cant speak to how well (or even if) Tramon will/would transition over to Safety. Given Brice's coverage lapses or inabilities the thought of having him move back there has a calming effect - but - I have to remind myself that I wasnt all busted up when we let him go after the SEA debacle. Thinking at the time his fifth gear was gone. Well.....veteran savvy will only get you so far in a sport built on speed. WILL starting him 15-20 yards back off the LOS make up for his inability to hang with a speed merchant? I certainly cant say other than it would give him a head start on the race. But if he loses that margin, we're back to square one and he's gonna get burned. Brice is a younger (and I think) faster player. He just cant seem to get things figured out. So - what to do? I cant say.

I want to be optimistic coming off the bye...but I think this game will be a stark reminder that the game is passing McCarthy by.  I think he gets brutally outcoached.

However, the Rams haven't been as dominant the last two weeks, so hopefully I am wrong.

Yep, McCarthy is lucky to have more than one win.....As for the defense, last night it looked like shades of a Dom Capers' coached unit....And all this against a 1-4 team with a quarterback starting his seventh game....
