You Hear It First: Hip Hop & R&B

Push did his homework man. He wasn’t gonna come out beating the same classic ghost writer drum that’s grown stale.

Drakes PR team has already started to explain the blackface pic. Says it was from a shoot with a Canadian magazine embodying “racial duality”....whatever that means. Look it up.

Ya Pusha was on the Breakfast Club this morning and said as soon as Drake mentioned his fiancé the gloves were off.

That's understandable, but Drake really didn't say anything but her name.  It wasn't that deep.  The thing about Drake's baby momma being a stripper/porn and him having a kid isn't news to people in the know.  However, there are a lot of people who didn't know Drake even had a kid or thought it was a rumor.  I think Drake can refute those things without much issues.  The blackface thing is nasty, though.  I read online what was said, but there's really no justification for it.  Also, I really don't like Pusha talking about Noah like that, but I guess it is what it is.

Pusha got more up his sleeve, though.  You can just tell lol.

This is great for rap music and Pusha himself since there are a lot of people who don't really mess with Pusha like that (real casuals) and he's gaining clout/respect from that group, which is huge for him.  Obviously everyone here knows Pusha is amazing.

I dunno about that.  He bodied him but not in the lyrical way I wanted to see.  He skipped The Takeover and went straight to Super Ugly.

Most of the most famous rappers nowadays aren't dope lyricists anymore like in the past. Drake got destroyed on this

There's reports that Drake is gearing up for a response.  Like, he has to respond to this.  No way he could have expected this type of blow.  Gonna be the most awaited response in rap history, probably.

Man idk what he can say. What ammo does he have.... "Im richer" "u 40 and got braids".

Haha, man who knows.  A lot of people didn't know the stuff that Pusha said about Drake.  There's two things tho.  1.  I feel like a lot of the stuff Pusha said is pretty easy for Drake to respond to.  He has a baby momma and a son, ultimately neither one of those things is that big of a deal.  He'll just say something like, I kept my son away from the media so he doesn't have to be exposed to all of that since he was really young, etc.  The thing Drake can't explain is the blackface stuff.  I know he or his team put out a statement, but it doesn't justify it.

2.  I feel like when Drake released Duppy his gloves were still on.  He made a lot of references in that song, but he did it lightly.  Pusha's gloves obviously were off.  So with this Drake response, I'm pretty sure he'll have his gloves off and we'll see how that goes.

Or Drake might just sue Pusha for defamation of character lmao

Ya I really don’t see what Drake can say about Push as a clap back. I feel like his response can only take a defensive approach, answering all of the loose ends Pusha dangled out there with Adidon, which means that Push already won.

I’m down for Drake to dig up some skeletons though and prove me wrong.

lol at drake's press release

That’s when you know you got got.

I don’t see a scenario where Drake comes out on top here. Boy is on the mat with the ref counting down.

Yea, that's what I said.  The biggest issue here is the Blackface.  It's not the kid or his baby momma.  I listened to his press release and he said he was an actor that wanted to highlight the struggle African-Americans have finding roles in acting.  That sounds good and all, but it's still no reason to do Blackface.  That was the most damning blow.  The kid and baby momma stuff is harsh and Pusha laid it on thick, but those things don't even matter in the bigger picture and things he can pretty much blow off by addressing it in another song.

Drake can come out on top if he releases another great diss.  Not to hip hop heads, but the general fans.

Like I'm not going to lie, Duppy is dope as hell to me because the beat and his flow on it.  When he gets into 'rapper' mode, I've always enjoyed Drake's cool and laid back flow and that beat is insane to me... I love the instrumental he used.  That song is way more 'listenable' to me.  If he makes another song like that or back-to-back, he'll win.
