Payton is very in tune to how delicate Ingram's ego is. He'll keep it quiet but I'd be shocked if he wasn't expecting (and maybe hoping for) a call from KC. That said, I can see the shift toward a more balanced pass/run ratio. The Chiefs have been very run heavy by Reid standards and Smith has a bunch of fast WR to throw to.
