“We shouldn’t sign Harper or Machado because the team is already good”

Ya hows that working out?

LOL Nobody actually said that - but - it would have been better than your whining when half the team's on IL at the same time.

"They 100% deserve it" Another LOL....and you're a fan? Half the team is on IL and they're only 3.5 games out of first with a lot of games to play. No need to go jumping off any tall structures just yet.

You insisted that the most profitable team in a league without a salary cap shouldn’t spend money to land two HOF players that are in their mid 20’s, and you are telling someone else they aren’t a fan?

Ok buddy

Nooooooooooooo.........thats not remotely close to what I said.

Btw.....back to reality......Clint Frazier's stats are lining up very nicely with Mr. Harper's (the one player of the Harper / Machado pair I was interested in the NYY possibly signing) - at just a fraction of the cost.

Frazier: 16G / 57AB / .351 / 5HR / 14RBI / 1.143OPS
Harper: 20G / 76AB / .289 / 5HR / 14RBI / 1.136OPS

Now - before some of you jump up and down that I'm saying Frazier's as good as Harper (or some other such extreme comment) - I'm not.
Just sayin.

Aaron Judge

Giancarlo Stanton

Gary Sanchez

Didi Gregorius

Miguel Andujar

Aaron Hicks

Greg Bird

Troy Tulowitzki

Yankees DL would literally be the best lineup in baseball

Plus an ace half a rotation and a bullpen

Curse is real

Fun facts:

The NYY lead the league in the number of players signed (37) between Free Agents, those re-signed/extended and Arbitration cases avoided - and are fifth in the league in overall expenditures for those classifications behind LAA, PHIL, SD and CO.

As for their current record, the NYY trail only PHIL - are tied with SD - and have a better record than LAA and CO.

So while they might not have spent on the Big Ticket items some wanted so badly, with all the injuries, its their overall depth which has kept them out of the cellar.

Btw - the Tampa Bay Rays - current leaders in the AL East and holder of the 2nd best overall record in all MLB ranked 21st in overall spending for free agents, those re-signed/extended and Arbitration cases avoided with 25 total players.

As pointed out above - Clint Frazier now sports a stat line equal to Bryce Harpers.

I guess its not necessarily the "headline player" you sign as the positional potholes you fill that matters.

The injuries have made this a rough start and AJ just went on the 10 day IL -- so its not getting easier any time soon - but its contributions from guys named LeMamahieu, Urshela and Tauchman that's keeping the NYY afloat right now.

NY Post:

The Yankees’ makeshift lineup looks abysmal, and their IL is stacked. Judge joins Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Hicks and Jacoby Ellsbury as injured outfielders. Infielders out include Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird, Troy Tulowitzki, Didi Gregorius and Miguel Andujar. On the mound, Luis Severino, Dellin Betances and Jordan Montgomery are still unable to help.
