Wow ESPN just stated Warriors are 28 and 1 when Curry plays in KD does not ha ha.. Still think KDs the best player in the league but Curry is definitely the most valuable 4 Golden State.

And 24-23 without him lol

Curry dictates the pace of that team. He is what makes Golden State. Durant is a great player, arguably the best player in the game currently, but he's much like LeBron in the sense that so much of his game centers around his methodical approach that it ultimately reduces the number of possessions for the rest of the team.

Durant isn't even close to comparable with LeBron in how they hijack the offense. Durant is much easier for other stars to play with.

Curry just gets the rock more in his hand without Durant. So he's able to shoot himself back in rhythm opposed to if he's having a off shooting night, the ball goes to Durant mainly when he's playing.

Yesterday the offense was pretty suspect for much of the game to be honest. Milwaukee would be hell without Durant. The Blazers just have a huge P&R liability in Kanter that hurts them. Milwaukee could go with Giannis at C and that would take away the high pick and roll make the offense limited.

Agreed it's not to the same extent, but Durant definitely slows down the pace of the game with how he plays, the numbers prove it.

And that is true, but by the same token, virtue of him being able to take 5+ pull up jumpers coming from half court with the ball in his hands instead of having to get the ball to Durant to initiate offense, that's either extra time on the game clock which leads to more possessions for the team or more second chance opportunities.

I can't recall, have the Blazers ever tried to go small to match the Warriors in any of their previous series? That is, put Aminu at the 5 and Harkless at the 4?

I don't remember to be honest. They probably have at some point, but what they need to do is either take Kanter out of the starting line up, or start trapping Curry on those high pick and rolls. IF Stotts still wants to implement the same strategy, then put Harkless on Curry so he can battle the screens better than Lillard can and make it harder for Curry. Lillard would just get hit with the pick and it would lead to an easy Steph three ball.

May need to start Hood to be honest, he's a problem offensively when he has confiden

KD, while a better player than Curry, is less valuable to the Warriors. That team is built around Curry, simple as that. KD was brought in to make their existing offense even more dangerous, and he slipped into that complimentary role effortlessly. Credit to him, most MVP players do not have the skill set to do this, they need the ball in their hand and the offense run through them to showcase their worth, but not KD. He not only fit into his role as a piece of the offense, not THEE piece, but has played the best ball of his career in doing so.

Dame has been trash since that big shot.

There has never been, and probably never will be, a better fit than Durant on the Warriors. He was tailor made for that team with Curry/Thompson/Green. Its simply not fair how it all went down. It took a great deal of luck for it all to come together.

People can say what they want but Curry, Thompson and Green were never suppose to be this good. Hitting on 3 draft picks like this is very rare, i am not sure anyone but the Spurs have done it quite like this. That was step one.

Then Curry got over his injury problems early in his career. that was such a huge part of all of this.

Then signing Iggy and missing out on Dwight Howard turned out to be a game changer, Iggy was a good signing, but no one saw that coming. People also forget that the warriors offered Deandre Jordan a deal in 2011, which would have run out but he would have been another guy they considered keeping.

Then you had Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook failing to close out the warriors after being up 3-1. This series isnt talked about nearly enough, but I think it was the "Can't beat them, join them" turning point for Durant.

Then the cap just explodes and they have the money to sign Durant because Curry had early year injury concerns and didnt sign a max deal. If Curry was on a max deal, signing Durant would have been a lot harder.

Once they had Durant, it was lights out for the NBA.

All this occurred as the guys who had been ruling the NBA for years were all (outside Lebron) in major decline or finished like Kobe, Duncan, Wade, Garnett, Pierce and some others, while the new generation of stars were just coming on the scene.

Its been a perfect storm, which some might claim was all planned, but I doubt it.

Still the warriors have been so dominate, that basically no one has had a chance to win a ring. The list of guys who are all stars and have rings is really short. Lebron, Leonard, Irving and the warriors. The list of 1st ballot HOFers without a ring is growing larger by the day.

The hard part of all this for fans of other teams, the warriors can win 3 or 4 more rings if they want.
