NYRaider
Andre Drummond has pulled his name out of consideration. Load management + fear of injury has these guys shook. There's also obviously a culture change with Pop running the show instead of Coach K.
NYRaider
The current training camp roster: • Bam Adebayo • Harrison Barnes • Jaylen Brown • Kyle Kuzma • Brook Lopez • Kyle Lowry • Khris Middleton • Donovan Mitchell • Mason Plumlee • Julius Randle • Marcus Smart • Jayson Tatum • PJ Tucker • Myles Turner • Kemba Walker • Thad Young
kyle21121
RJ Barrett also pulled out for Canada due to an injury he has now. Wants to be good to go for the Knicks. Completely understandable. He’s definitely one of our most talented players but he’s young not sure he’d have a huge role yet with the team.

He'll definitely be on the Olympic team and be a huge ambassador for Candian hoops going forward. It has always been so strange too me that Wiggins has been absent from Canada basketball. NYRaider
I think another big issue for team USA is that the crop of young American players just isn't nearly as good as it has been in the past. In the past two cycles, we've had young guys like Westbrook, Rose, Love, Durant, Curry, Davis, and Irving all in their early 20's. According to Hoops Hype's list of the best players in the league 25 or younger, only 4 of the top 15 guys on their list can play for team USA: Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, and DeAaron Fox. The other 11 are international guys: Giannis (Greece), Jokic (Serbia), Embiid (Cameroon), KAT (Puerto Rico), Simmons (Australia), Doncic (Slovenia), Kristapas (Latvia), Capela (Switzerland), Murray (Canada), Siakam (Cameroon), Nurkic (Bosnia)

TitanSlim
I think the change of moving the World Cup to the year before the Olympics is an underratred factor in some of the top guys decision not to play. Asking guys to give up a large part of their summers in back to back years is a tough sale. Edited August 7, 2019 by TitanSlim

There's just also been a shift because of "load management" and the fact that none of these guys want to get hurt. Everyone saw PG13 go down and break his leg a few years back at a USAB camp and there is a huge injury risk to be apart of the team.

I guess I shouldn’t be too shocked about this but I thought we’d still end up with about 5-6 NBA players in this squad.

Mitchell and Tatum will be all stars soon enough. they are young but are going to win it all
