No I mean Cole

He absolutely was... he was coming off a bad year but it was clearly a fluke / he was a top-5 talent with a track record

If you go back to the time of that trade mission was very vocal about how good Cole was and compared him to Max Scherzer when he was traded to Detroit

Could’ve had him for Clint Frazier.  Passing was a big big mistake

I was coming here to say that I bet the Yankees regret not trading Frazier for an ace.. especially because he's not even on their playoff roster

Yeah seriously

Severino is an ace at full health but obviously was not at full health this year, still some rust, and he's had issues in the playoffs

Paxton and Tanaka are #2/#3 starters

None of those guys is likely to give you 7+ quality innings.  You cant build a team around starters always going 5 innings and hoping nobody in the bullpen has an off night.

F'ing Clint Frazier was the dealbreaker for Gerrit Cole. You know that stings.

They'll have a 2nd chance at Cole in the offseason but I think he's headed west to the Angels or Dodgers.

They wont have a chance because Cashman will get a hard on over fiscal responsibility and offer him like 4 years 80 million

Fair lol. The biggest difference between these teams is the starting pitching and I wonder what happened there. Luhnow pulled trades for Verlander, Cole, and Greinke and then he extended Verlander. Yankees traded for Paxton in the offseason and.... waited for Severino to return from injury as their big trade deadline "acquisition."

What a difference a couple years makes. 2017 this team wasn't ready for Yankee Stadium and looked intimidated. Now they're playing smooth and the Yankees are the ones with the jitters.

Experience exudes confidence.  This team has gone thru Yankee Stadium now three times in the last five years, three ALCS' in a row, with absolute killers on the field.  They aren't shook by anything anymore.

This series isn't over in the slightest but they are in a great spot.

It’s over.
