Georgia is going to regret going after Matta. He’s physically done and needs to just retire.

Georgia basketball has been to the NCAA Tournament 5 times this century, and have not won a game in the tournament since 2002.

Matta has won 20+ plus games every year of his career except for his last year when he couldnt even walk. He is a good recruiter, and he wont even have to go far to recruit. Just get what you need from the metro Atlanta area.

If he wasnt physically ready to coach, do you really think he would be back?

It will be a home run hire for the Georgia program.

He USED to recruit well. Then he let all of the great talent in Ohio leave. He couldn’t develop guys at all either.

I’m just predicting what will happen, he will have success next year and make Georgia fans beleive he is the answer. Might have success the next year too. Then you will flat line and have early exits from the tourney and get “upset” by no name schools for the next 5 years.

@devils1854 why did Georgia not go harder after Khavon Moore?

I mean I love that we got him, but it's weird for one of the best recruits out of Georgia to go to Texas Tech of all places

Mark Fox cant recruit. In his 9 years here, I think he got 1 5* from the state(KCP), and only a couple of 4*.

Ok, and that would be a huge success for Georgia. Any recruiting is better than what Fox did.

No matter what Matta does at Georgia, he cant leave the program in worse shape than it already is.

Got one player in the top 50 nationally in those 9 years

Memphis, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State, Virginia Tech are all schools that have our recruited Georgia in their own state this decade.

Poor UVA. #1 overall seed by a mile but put in the same bracket as the best 4th and 5th seed combo (Zona is the best 4th seed period IMO, UK 2nd best 5th behind Zaga) and 2 of the 4 or 5 most physically talented teams. Both hot at the right time, coming off a conference championship wins. Neither UK or Zona are nearly good enough to where there is no scenario UVA could beat them, come on now.

It's pick your poison though, you're either gonna get the toughest S16 matchup or E8 matchup on paper as the #1 seed, and the aim is always to give you the top seed the weakest 2 . Given that the further you get in the tournanet, the less likely it will be chalk, I wish the #1 seed got the easiest path to the E8 rather than the easiest path to the F4 (which is the intention).

Well, without De'Andre Hunter, there really is no scenario we'd win, even if you disagreed with me initially. We'll never make a final 4 -__-

Good hire for Georgia.

If he can do even half as well at Georgia as he did with the dumpster fire he inherited at Indiana, he will be a huge success.

Half as well would be 2 NCAA tourneys in a decade.

Most recently at Indiana, Crean inherited a program with only one returning player, pending NCAA probation and scholarship restrictions due to poor academic performances. He compiled a 166-135 record from 2008-17. Indiana was 28-66 in his first three seasons before compiling a 138-69 mark in his final six years in Bloomington, including a pair of outright Big Ten Championships in 2013 and 2016. Indiana was ranked in each of those last six campaigns, including 11 weeks at No. 1 during 2012-13. Crean was voted Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2016, the same season he was a finalist for Naismith National Coach of the Year honors. Three Hoosiers earned All-America honors under Crean – Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell (2016), Cody Zeller (2013) and Victor Oladipo (2013).

9 years
4 NCAAs
3 Sweet Sixteens
6 NCAA Wins
2 Big Ten Championships

Id be ok with half of that since Georgia has only been to the tournament twice in the past 12 years, and havent even won a game in the tournament since 2002, and havent been to a Sweet Sixteen since 1996.
