2020 Roster - how many spots do we need to upgrade/fill

I'm in the minority, but I don't think we absolutely need a DL upgrade (would be nice, but we could manage). Lancaster/Lowry are replacement level, not terrible. Unless we are playing SF/Balt/Tenn we can manage.

We absolutely need an ILB, RT though. Right now we would be starting Alex Light and Oren Burks which is very scary.

That may or may not be true, but Lancaster wasn't a rookie, KeKe was.

I'm not ready to write him off after a rookie season. Hell - Gary gets a frickin free pass - not too much to ask KeKe gets the same

Nah I'm not either, but going into training camp Lancaster will probably be ahead of him.

I guess my original point was or was intended to be, we want to beat those teams and win the Super Bowl. The current roster doesn't cut it so IMO, D-line is a necessary upgrade after what SF did to us twice.

I think you can manage with multiple jags starting, you just can’t have holes like Bell, Brice, and one edge 2 years ago.

Right now I’d say have 2 clear holes where we are looking at starting a guys who will be abused or out of position;

OT- It is dire there right now

ILB- unless Burks pops, we need a guy

Places where we would like to upgrade but can manage if need be;

TE- stern and ton have potential and flashed a little

DL- Lowry is the definition of Jag. Lancaster is a solid role player. Then we have mid round flyers. We could manage against most teams except like SF/Bal

WR-similarly to las year, potential for guys to make a jump. More talent would be great though.

Other than Adams all we have are JAGs at WR so this position we have a clear hole.  And on the DL Clark is the only real good one there so we need more talent here also.

Kirksey and Wagner fill holes at their respective positions, but they’re both big ?’s after last season. I suspect we’ll add a IDL in FA or early through the draft. ILB could be possible if the right guy is there. However, I’m thinking we’ll go Reagor, Davis, and the best ILB or WR available in the third as our first three picks.

Keke isn’t a JAG simply because he was a rookie. Lancaster‘s return will frustrate a lot of people as he is Clark’s back-up. If Curtis Bolton can stay healthy, he’ll make the team. He had a great camp last year before getting hurt. Summers is a ST guy so he’ll be back. I think we should revisit this topic in a couple weeks.

I certainly hope this isn't the case.  I'd like to get a contribution from our early picks next year.   I don't think either of those two become much more than a roster body.

Davis would step in any time we run 3 DL. He's got grown man strength. Pretty useless past run downs currently though.

I now say we don't have any grand canyon sized holes as we have filled two starting spots with JAGs. We now could improve OT, ILB, TE, WR, DL. It will be interesting to see who we draft.

how many JAG starters  can you have and still win a SB?

biggest hole is No. 2 receiving option, No. 3 offensive weapon.  Could be filled by one player or two players.

Next biggest hole is No. 2 Big on Defense.  Easy fill in FA or the draft.  Draft will cost big capital though unless you wait on a 2 down only player.

Need a 3T more than you need a WR.
