RB Jerick McKinnon and the #49ers agree to a restructured contract

Recommended Posts

I'm interested to see what his new cap hit will be. He's currently at $8.55 mil, according to Spotrac. I'd like to see this number down to $3-$5 mil range, or lower.

What an absolutely idiotic move by the FO. I hope they learned their lesson. Doubt they did.

I meant signing him to begin with. Restructuring had to happen.

Signing him was not a bad idea at all. The contract, on the other hand, was not smart.

Well, too many are looking at this through either numbers or his injury (or both). Obviously, Shanny or someone still sees potential in him for our O. Perhaps he could be even better than all the RBs we have put on the field already? I certainly would like to know.

Personally, I would have just reached an injury settlement with him and let him walk.

The thing that sucks is that if he has escalators and performance bonuses, those have to be considered against the cap. But I don't mind this. I'm not sure why we haven't cut Coleman yet, but Jet offers a little something that the others don't, so it's worth it on a minimum type deal unless he hits escalators (and at that point, he's earned the money, so no complaints there)

I have a feeling we won't be cutting Coleman.

It'll be pretty disappointing if we chose to keep Coleman over Breida.

I actually have that feeling as well. I'm also less certain we are bringing Breida back, which is weird.
