Is the 2007 Class the worst QB class in history?

*2013 has entered the chat*

13 was bad as well but considering where the first 5 QBs in the 2007 draft were selected they get the nod. They were all selected within the first 43 picks.

If you’re taking into account how amazing that first round was overall and the placement, yeah. I think quality 2007 might be better, though. Stanton and Moore ended up being good backup QBs, which I don’t even think 2013 has got one of (yet).

I don't think Stanton and good go together. Basically, you're comparing Moore to Mike Glennon. Both were bad but the draft placement in 2007 takes the cake.

Misplaced Stanton as a good backup...but Moore was. Certainly better than Glennon. So yeah, agreed - looking at other players drafted, 07. Quality overall, 13.

1996 is a  contender as well.
The first QB drafted, Tony Banks, was drafted after a fullback (although Alstott is one of the greatest Buccaneers ever, positional value it's weird a FB went before the first QB). He fumbled 21 times his rookie year -- a record at the time. He started three years for the Rams averaging about 190 yards a game and ended up with 36 TDs, 42 INT, 46 fumbles. The year after he left the Rams -- was 1999 the start of the Greatest Show on Turf (Kurt Warner had 41 TDs in 1999).

The second QB taken was Bobby Hoying. To copy paste from his wikipedia, he started the back half of his rookie year, but then "[t]he following year, however, would be a complete disaster for Hoying as he was benched midseason after not winning a single game as a starter. He did not throw a touchdown pass and threw nine interceptions. The 3-13 season led to the firing of Eagles head coach Ray Rhodes, and ultimately the hiring of Andy Reid. Reid drafted Donovan McNabb out of Syracuse University and traded Hoying". He was traded to the Raiders, who hired Gruden who coached Hoying at Philly, but journeyman Rich Gannon had the starting job. Rich Gannon got hurt in the AFC title game, and Hoying lead offense scored 3 points.

Next up is Jeff Lewis who was select by the Broncos. He tore his ACL playing a pickup basketball game and hid how he hurt it, which made Shannahan go from viewing him as the potential successor of Elway to trading him to the Panthers. The Panthers had Steve Beuerlein and thought Lewis could be his successor as well. Beuerlein was released in 2001 and Lewis was named the starter, then he had 4 passing attempt preseason game where he threw 3 interceptions.

Danny Kannell was up next and was a back up tier QB for a handful of years for the Giants and Falcons.

Spence Fisher was then selected by the Steelers (pretty sure he did nothing, like didn't make any team nothing), then Mike Cawley by the Colts. Cawley made the PS for a year then went to the CFL until becoming a backup in the XFL. Then Jon Stark  of a school called Trinity International. Then Kyle Wacholtz who played at USC, but was a practice squad player until the team made him convert to TE, he was on the active roster as a TE during the SB but not a contributor.

The best QBs were undrafted in Jon Kitna, Damon Huard and Ray Lucas.

To make the QB class look even worse for that 2007 class is the fact that Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Joe Thomas, Derelle Revis, Patrick Willis, Marshawn Lynch all went off the board by the 15th pick which essentially means there was almost a 50% chance of grabbing a HOF caliber player through the first 15 picks yet a team like the Raiders grabbed Jamarcus Russell instead of the aforementioned players that for the most part (minus Marshawn Lynch) were all unanimous best at their positions for a lengthy period of time.
