I remember a thread in the NFL section a few years ago - which team would be the best if every player was in their prime.

Denver Broncos were basically the greatest team of all time under that scenario. Players like Manning, Ware, Mathis, Davis who if in their prime put together with the younger stars like Harris, Von Miller Talib would have gone 16-0.

2017- 18 Cavs looks like an even better example of this.

Prime Bron (whichever one that is) together with 2011 Rose, 2009. Wade, Minnesota Kevin Love, 2016 Issiah Thomas,  a slightly younger Kyle Corver and Richard Jefferson and the rest of the current team, would be a 70-2 team.

Cleveland not even the best LeBron assembled team when taking everyone in their primes.  We had a thread like this in the basketball forum as well after Brooklyn traded for Garnett/Pierce.

does this really make the cavs better? Wade is an awful defensive player, and hes been declining offensively for a while now. I mean, the cavs problem was not their ability to score, and they just got worse defensively.

It was a big problem when Lebron went to the bench.

Also, how does this make us worse defensively? We didn’t lose a good defender. Wade is replacing deron Williams. We added crowder. If anything were slightly better because of crowder.

I'm wondering this as well, even if Wade and Rose aren't great defenders, in what world are they significantly worse than Kyrie or Deron Williams? Given the current makeup of the team, you'd have to say they are at least slightly better defensively with Crowder taking minutes from guys like Shumpert and Derrick Williams - all else being equal.

crowder was already on the team, williams was already gone. who is wade taking minutes from? jr smith somewhat and maybe crowder a little, maybe rose and korver a little. wade is an awful defender, maybe only rose is worse. just dont see how its going to be a positive, his offense has been and will continue to decline, he doesnt seem care about defense and its awful anyway. another aging iso player isnt what the cavs needed.

He's a guy who can score by means other than just standing around taking 3 point shots. Last year we had LeBron and Kyrie who could do that. This year we will have LeBron, Wade, Rose and IT who can do that. Wade put up 18 a game in under 30 minutes on a basketball team where teams only had to worry about defending he and Jimmy Butler. Comments that Wade can't play anymore are completely laughable.

This pretty much means LeBron can take a breather without worrying about his team blowing leads when he checks back in. Obvious statement but this is the deepest team he's ever played on. Kyrie without LeBron on the court was a train wreck offensively and I'll take IT4, Wade, Rose, and Crowder for Uncle Drew. IT4 you know he can still run the show on his own and so can Wade. I'm excited to see how the Cavs will play together. Wade can't play defense, well JR can't either, nor he can create his own shot.
