  • IMO, his deep balls can be lackluster in velocity sort of floats them up there. He has improved this a bit and at least started giving his receivers a chance this last year but you can find him underthrowing Deasan a few times.

This drove me nuts but for a different reason.  Sometimes you will underthrow a fast WR and he does it more often then I would like.  What I hate is when people say what a great back shoulder throw and the WR had a couple steps on the DB.  Even the announcers will say it.  That is also why I like Romo in the booth.  He will say it was a good adjustment by the WR and that the QB underthrew the pass.  I think Carr does this to play it safe also.  What he has to remember is that a fast WR gets faster as they are chasing something.  Put it out there and let the WR go get it.  Thankfully this does not happen a lot because we are not chucking it downfield like Jay Schroeder but when he does go deep he underthrows it far to often.

i hate those safe throws, got to just put it on the guy and let him get upfield. Often it throws the Receiver off and they have to adjust.

Saying that Carr plays down to the level of competition is an absolute joke. I swear the Carr haters never stop making me roll my eyes into last week.

I think a better way of putting it is he does not smell blood in the water so he allows teams to stick around.  I know some of this is the entire team but a lot of it is the QB not wanting to take there foot off the gas pedal.  Also the QB not playing it safe and saying to himself at least we get 3 points here.  To put things into perspective Derek Carr has had 8 games in his career where we have won by more than ten points in his career (127).  Tom Brady has had 15 in the past 2 years (33).  Like I said this is not solely on the QB but 7 of those 10+ point wins the offense put up over 40 or more points in the game with Brady.  A Carr led offense has put up 40+ points 2 times in 127 games.

I dont think you can say Carr doesn't smell blood in the water when he is arguably the best 4th qtr QB in the game right now.

4th best? Idk about that. I have him around 10-12 with some games where he plays elite (eagles) and some where he is very shaky (giants).

And who gives a **** how his deep ball gets there?? Remember when I said people tend to get "hyper-focused"? Anyone who says he's bad down the field is exactly that..... except they're focused on the exception..... at least that's how I interpret this.

Does garbage time count? Just curious, that's the big missing stat here.

Of course it does.  We do not even have a set definition for garbage time.  I have some split stats for you.

Split Value Cmp Att Inc Cmp% Yds TD 1D Int Rate Sk Yds Y/A AY/A Att Yds Y/A TD 1D
Game Situation Leading, < 2 min to go 0 0     0 0 0 0   0 0     5 -5 -1.0 0 0
  Leading, < 4 min to go 2 2 0 100.00 53 0 2 0 118.8 2 -25 26.5 26.50 5 -5 -1.0 0 0
  Tied, < 2 min to go 4 7 3 57.14 51 0 3 0 80.1 0 0 7.3 7.29 2 -2 -1.0 0 0
  Tied, < 4 min to go 6 9 3 66.67 88 0 4 0 98.4 0 0 9.8 9.78 2 -2 -1.0 0 0
  Trailing, < 2 min to go 14 27 13 51.85 152 0 9 0 68.8 3 -19 5.6 5.63 2 11 5.5 0 0
  Trailing, < 4 min to go 33 54 21 61.11 323 1 17 2 68.7 5 -26 6.0 4.69 3 12 4.0 0 0

This shows he does not perform well with less than 4 minutes when we are trailing.

Split Value G W L T Cmp Att Inc Cmp% Yds TD Int Rate Sk Yds Y/A AY/A A/G Y/G Att Yds Y/A TD A/G Y/G Fmb FL FF FR Yds TD
Final Margin 0-7 points 9 7 2 0 231 352 121 65.63 2617 11 8 88.7 21 144 7.43 7.04 39.1 290.8 23 65 2.83 0 2.6 7.2 7 3 0 3 -10 0
  8-14 points 5 3 2 0 120 167 47 71.86 1448 8 3 106.6 11 59 8.67 8.82 33.4 289.6 14 25 1.79 0 2.8 5.0 4 0 0 2 -5 0
  15+ points 3 0 3 0 77 107 30 71.96 739 4 3 91.6 8 38 6.91 6.39 35.7 246.3 3 18 6.00 0 1.0 6.0 2 2 0 0 0 0

This shows the closer the game the better the team outcome but once again Carrs rating drops.  This does not show how he plays compared to other QBs or directly in the fourth as a hole.  It is the best I have to go with the other stats.

I’m cool with Carr coming back. BUT if Rodgers chooses to leave why not call up Green Bay and tell them want to keep Adams happy and in Green Bay. Here’s Derek Carr and some first round picks.

Don’t care what anyone says. Rodgers make a team a title contender as soon a he joins a team. Work would still need to be done fixing the line and adding some weapons but this is a way McDaniels can go out and make a huge splash from the start

I am not giving up any assets for Rodgers.  If we got a shot at him in FA let's see what he wants but a 38 year old QB for a 30 year old QB plus picks is way to much.  If Rodgers was 5 years younger then yes go all in but he could fall off any year now.  If we can not get anything for Carr or we really do not want him moving forward I would do a trade straight up.
