ANTARCTICA

Motivation: Tua gotta learn.

Personnel Changes: So many injuries.

Offensive Formations: Spreading Sactown way way out with traditional shotgun formations, playing a lot of 4WR sets this week.  Will also be mixing in 3WR/TE as well.

Tempo: Playing a traditional tempo to help Tua get adjusted to the game.

Playcalling Distribution: 60% pass and 40% run

Run Scheme: our runs will focus on power running with a large amount of traps, counter traps, pulling sweeps, and pulling counter sweeps.  These plays are going to focus on the outside/ends from Sactown. We are going to look to trap the crap out of them and take that aggressiveness away from them so they have to play more timid in the passing game. This will lead to more time for Tua to drop dimes to our ELITE WRs.

Audibles: screens and slants will mostly be our check down plays to move out of poorly called pass plays.  If Tua recognizes blitz pre-snap he will look to check into a screen/quick slant play.  We will have a number of variations of the screens, even WR screens to Lamb and Godwin we will use.

Passing: we are going to be playing a lot with 4 WR/RB sets this week to spread Sactown way out and let Godwin and Diggs work the middle of the field and give easy wide open targets to Tua.  We will look to utilize slants, posts, and crossing routes layered to exploit our advantage in the IC-DB matchups. RB's will be used 50/50 in helping chip/block anything that gets through and faking that and slipping out to be a check down outlet or running a number of wheel routes.  When we run the wheel routes we will clear out the one side of the field with crossing/slants moving everything to the opposite side of the field and Akers or Gurley will be the primary target on the wheel route to the freed up side.  Brown starting on the outside allows Godwn to shift to the slot.  We will look to take some deep shots to Brown and Diggs with Godwin and Lamb manning the underneath routes.  We look to target Godwin a lot out of his slot position.

Playaction and RPO's: these are going to be thrown in a good bit to take advantage to the spread out field.

First play of the game: Tua comes out, under center in a 3WR set (Diggs, Brown, Godwin).  This play is going to be a flea flicker deep bomb to one of the two WRs running go routes (Diggs and Godwin).  Time to have fun boys!!!

Defense Base Formation: playing a base 3-4 man defense this week.

Playstyle: going with 3-4 as our base D this week as it will give us a better opportunity to get pressure on Ryan and cover the receivers.  We will use a higher percentage of zone whether in 3-4, nickle or dime.  We will look to disguise this by showing man and blitzes before falling back to cover on the snap.  Playing more zone and disguising the look will hopefully take away all of the short/quick/underneath plays.

Run defense.  We will be using our 3-4 d to load up the box tight to the line on clear run plays and big formations.  Runs blitzes will be heavy on big formations and early downs.  We want to get penetration and blow up the plays before they get started.

Passing Defense: we think if we take away the quick/underneath/short passing game from Ryan that we can win the game. So as much as we can, we will be showing man/blitz and fall back into a zone.  We will mix up the zones between underneath and deep.  We will also use man coverage enough to keep Ryan off balanced on his reads.

Offensive Attack: Wish Bone/ Spread Triple Option

Play Distribution: 80/20 Run/Pass

Formations: 3 Back/2 TE (50%) 3 Back/2 Wide (30%), 4 Wide (20%)

Philosophy:  Big division game against Antarctica this week. They beat once this year and we are looking to avoid the sweep. We are coming out grounding and pounding. We want to control the clock and we feature our wish Bone offense with our three rookie running backs leading the way. We will run triple option out of this formation, zone, power, lead dives, you name it. With respect to our leader Joe Burrow we are not replacing him with a real QB for the last game of the season. Jakobi Meyers who played high school QB will be our guy. He has thrown a TD pass this season and we think he can handle this role well. We will use our Wishbone in two formations, the 2 tight and the 2 wide.  This will allow us to power more inside and seal the edges with our 2 Tight and allow us to spread the defense a bit more with our 2 Wide. We will throw out of this formation as well, getting our backs out of the backfield as well as our tight ends or receivers on quick passing plays. Out of our 4 Wide Tony Pollard will play the RB role giving our other three backs a rest who are playing 80% of the snaps each in the wish bone. Pollard is a good receiver and we will run some zone as well with him out of the four wide. We will use combo routes to Spread the ball around in our 4 wide. We play N’Keal in the slot in four wide to use his blocking ability, with Boyd at the other slot and Ruggs and Brown outside. Jakobi will also have the option to keep on options and tuck the ball and run on passing plays.

Defense: Nickel 4-2-5 against 3 Wide and 4-1-6 against 4 Wide. 4-3-4 against 2 RB or 2 TE.

DLine Rotation: Hubbard (80% LE), Lawrence (70% NT), Suh (70% UT), Lawson (60% RE), Oliver (30% UT, 20% LE)  Fatukasi (30% NT), Reed (40% RE)

LBer Rotation: (Dependent on Formation of Offense) Murray (100%) Holcomb (75%), Schobert (25%)

Philosophy: We will bring consistent pressure. We will bring a combination of our 4 down lineman and a LBer or Safety Blitz from Holcomb/Nwosu (40% of the snaps in our Nickel/ Curl 10% of the snaps) We will run a combo of Man and zone this game against 3 Wide, 2RB, 2 TE in-line with Bates always playing deep zone. When the LBer is not blitzing he will play middle zone or cover the man the SS has when the Safety blitzes. Kamren Curl plays in the box in nickel similar to an extra LB as usual. We will rush four against 4 wide and play man with Jessie Bates single high. Once again Malik Reed replaces Lawson as a stand up end on clear passing downs and situations as well as any 4 Wide sets. Run gap discipline. Against 2 Wide we bring in Joe Schobert and the OLB have D Gaps. NT has both A’s, MLB has B, UT has other B, Ends have C’s. Same gap discipline for Nickel except End on Curl’s side takes B gap and Harrison fits to C.
