Ivory Coast

Motivation- Win.

Offense
Primary Formation: 11 Personnel Single Back
- Our primary formation heading into the game will contain a single back, three receivers, and a tight end. We’ll have a few plays with 4 wide receivers (both with a single back, as well as with a single TE). Anthony Sherman will come in as the lead blocker on some short yardage situations, and we’ll also leverage Josh Jones as a 6th lineman in goal line situations as needed.

Running Game Focus- We are going to lean on the ground attack in our matchup against Singapore. We’ll use a mixture of power run blocking schemes as well as zone run blocking schemes, and avoid traps and pulls, as we feel that Aaron Donald and Fletcher Cox are too quick to run those effectively against. We’ll be focused on running towards the left side of the line more, to avoid putting more pressure on Wagner, and if we feel that we’re not opening the holes as effectively we’ll bring in Anthony Sherman to assist with lead blocking (taking out a receiver). On down and distances of about 2 yards or less, usually only around the red zone, we’ll have Josh Jones come out as a sixth OL to add some more bulk on the line. We are aiming to give Chubb 30 carries this game, with a few more given to Ekeler. We’re going to try and attack the edges of the defense instead of running right at Donald and Cox, and we think we can spring Chubb outside for some big gains. With the emphasis on running the ball, it will help us control the clock and limit the Singapore offensive possessions.

Passing Game Focus- Tannehill will have a trio of receivers to start the game – Terry McLaurin, Robby Anderson, and Corey Davis, who starts over Chase Claypool to give us a little more consistency out of the starters. Claypool will still feature a lot of snaps as he rotates through with the other receivers, and he will be used to wear out the DBs with deep routes. Austin Ekeler will be used to motion out of the backfield to split out wide for some pass plays, but for the most part we will be keeping our backs in to help pass protect. Once we’ve built and established the running game, we’ll start throwing in playaction passes, especially on early downs, to see if we can’t catch the defense off-guard and get a big play. We’ll include roll-outs and bootlegs as part of the playaction package, to get Tannehill out in space and away from the Singapore interior. Most of the pass plays we run will have the running back stay in to block and help out against the rush. Jared Cook will be playing both inline as well as splitting out wide – he’ll be featured heavily as the motion man pre-snap to read the defense. Depending on what kind of defense we face, we’ll run flood route concepts if we’re encountering mostly zone, and slants as well as stutter-go against man, trying to take advantage of our receivers’ matchups.

X-Factor on Offense: Trust the Chubb- Nick Chubb is going to be the focal point of our offense this game. We want to lean on our best offensive player to carry the load, control the clock to limit Singapore’s offense, move the sticks, and set up the playaction pass.

Defense
Defensive Formation: 4-2-5 Defense- In anticipation of Singapore going 3 wide receivers, we will come out in a 4-2-5 nickel defense. When Singapore goes with a more heavy look (2 receivers or fewer), we’ll adjust to a 4-3 look, bringing Queen on as the ILB and moving Terrell off. If Singapore goes 4 wide, we’ll bring on Jackson and take off White.

Secondary Coverage: Cover-2 & Cover-1 Man-Under Scheme- Running zone against Tom Brady is suicide. We’re going to run man under coverage, with Patrick Peterson shadowing Keenan Allen. The other receivers aren’t going to have specific assignments, with Terrell and Jackson/Diggs focused on the slots and Johnson out on the boundary (If Allen lines up inside or moves to the slot, PP will follow and Terrell ends up outside). Lavonte David has the task of covering Darren Waller. To help our man coverage underneath, we’ll have one or two safeties over the top at all times. McCourty will be playing deep, and Whitehead will join him on cover-2 looks. For our Cover-1, we’ll have Whitehead covering the primary running back / second tight end, and we’ll have Devin White blitz or play a soft middle zone, to take that away from Brady. On cover-2, White will have the primary running back / second tight end. When we are in 4-3, David gets Waller, White will get the primary back, and Queen will cover the second back / tight end. Our corners are going to play closer to the line, alternating between performing jams and press, and playing off-man. When facing bunch formations, we’ll have our cornerbacks line up at different depths to avoid getting picked on the rub routes (See: Gotham Wrinkle Bunch Coverage, 2020, Divisional Round). We’re having our corners play man and avoid letting Tom Brady get quick passes out, if he tries to rush a deep throw we’ll have at least one safety back there to take advantage of it.

Defensive Box- Our defensive line is going to be focused on getting after Tom Brady with one gap penetration assignments. We want our interior line (Hurst and Payne starting, Ogunjobi and Omenihu rotating) to emphasis collapsing the pocket from the interior, and not allowing Tom Brady to step up in the pocket. Devin White will be leveraged as an additional blitzer at times when we play a cover-1. On 3rd and longs (8+), we’ll bring out some of our Hydra looks by shifting one of Mack/Garrett/Young inside to have all three attack on the pass rush. Our linebackers have the speed to run down anything to the outside, as well as read and react to interior runs. When we have the cover-1 plays Whitehead will be dropping down post-snap (to avoid tipping cover-1or2 presnap) to take the running back if he comes out of the backfield; if he reads that he’s staying in to block that’ll give us another player to come bring pressure to Tom Brady.

X-Factor on Defense: Trust our edges- Duane Brown is a good tackle, but we expect our elite edges to be able to win some matchups and tilt the balance in our favor. On the other side Jack Conklin is starting to play better, but we still feel that Garrett / Mack will be able to generate pressure, and we have Chase Young to rotate to keep the trio fresh and sustain the pressure all game long.

Singapore Sentinels

Motivation - Leverage Brady to his first Bizz Bowl against the thinnest team left in the playoffs. Use our depth off the bench to tire their guys out.

Offensive Strategy
Formations:  3-4 WR Bunch formation (60%)/ 2 TE (15%)/ 2 RB (25%)
Scheme:  Pass (55%) vs Run (45%)

Passing
Tom’s incredible processing power allows him to assess whether the Black Rhinos are in man or zone. Waller should be their focus this week with Allen slightly banged up. To counter this and put more pressure on their secondary we'll be bringing back our bunch formation. I don’t know if ICBR has more than 5 healthy defensive backs available to play this week.

Bunch.png?resize=750,335&ssl=1

We can create a leverage advantage by using a compressed split bunch formation that will allow us to hit the open receiver after the rub. Gabriel Davis will be splitting time with Allen this week and has shown he is capable of scoring in tight situations.  In 4 WR sets Darnell Mooney adds speed to go along with Allen/Davis and Higgins’s route running skills. Beasley will be Brady’s safety blanket in the slot again.

SOP-03.jpg

Darren Waller will likely pull extra coverage this week. In 2TE sets we will split him outside to draw coverage away from our other weapons. If he is single covered then the matchup is in our favor.

TDZ2TE1.jpg

Rushing
Hunt will get the start but we will use more 2 RB looks with all of the backs. Hunt and Carson will get the majority of the carries this week with CEH spelling them. We want to rely on our vets to get us to the Bizz bowl. We will use outside zone runs to stretch the Rhino DL out and set up the pass for Brady with some play action. The versatility of our offensive weapons allows them to line up in multiple spots and give Brady a quick out to move the ball.  We are going to remain balanced as usual but want to grind out some time to keep Ivory Coast off the field. We will also run out of the bunch formation to the weak side.

wham.jpg?ssl=1

OW Laviska Shenault Jr. gets a Jet Sweep.sprinkled in to use his ability to break tackles and get tough yards to keep the chains moving. We will be using more 2 TE and 3 TE sets this week to run behind with Fells coming in to get an extra blocker on Mack. In some of our 21 personnel this week we want to get Foster Moreau involved as a FB and also be our 3rd TE this week.. He can be the fulcrum we need against the Ivory Coast front four to leverage enough space for our backs to slip through to the second tier.

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQoOldMZuJf9ANUGHPcno5

Blocking
Ivory Coast’s interior is less potent than Lancaster’s that we faced last week and known more for their run stopping. So we should be able to double team Garrett or Young on the right side with Conklin/Davis. Brown will get help on Mack from a chip block by the RB on the way to the Flat or a TE. This should give time for TB12 to carve up the depleted Black Rhinos secondary in time for Christmas.

Defensive Strategy
Formation:  4-2-5 Defense / 4-1-6 dime

Run Defense
Aaron Donald and Fletcher Cox clog the middle and get penetration  to collapse the pocket and not give Tannehill time to step up and make throws. Aaron Donald is known to be a monster and game wrecker by himself, since pairing him with Fletcher Cox, a beast in his own right, we have one of if not the best interior tandems in the league. They should give the razor thin Black Rhinos OL a spot of trouble as Cox and Donald can cover the A gaps.

ICBR has two outstanding RB’s in Chubb and Ekeler. We have the LBs needed to fill the gaps and limit their ability to leverage first downs. Deion Jones will be a spy on the RB in both the run game and pass to limit their impact. We are going heavy runstopping at LB this week with Andre Van Ginkel to allow him to fill his B gap. Bilal Nichols and Preston Smith will rotate in to keep our dynamic interior duo fresh. Hollins will come in versus heavy run sets if they decide to go that way. Preston Smith shifts inside this week as Markus Golden has earned a starting spot opposite Reddick.

VG.jpg

Pass Rush
Haason Reddick and Markus Golden crash the edges and we will be bringing pressure from our front for most of the game.. This should force Tannehill to throw into max coverage and not give his receivers time to develop their routes. The rotation off the bench in Quinn and Smith will make sure that our guys stay primed all day to keep that pressure on. We are going to run some twist stunts up the middle to confuse the ICBR OL

take2.PNG

When we do blitz it will be up the A or B gap with a LB as both Jones and Van Ginkel are also accomplished pass rushers.

Pass Defense
Formation - Cover 1 Man

We know Tannehill can throw deep and we will look to take that away this week and trust our guys up front to stop the run and generate enough pressure to force some turnovers. We are going to a cover 1 man this week with Lonnie Johnson as the deep FS. Kyle Fuller and Jonathan Jones will use outside shade technique on their receivers. Underneath Desmond King will cover the slot and John Johnson will play in a robber role to undercut routes and contain big runs from Chubb and Ekeler. If Cook is in the game he will cover the TE.

c3590ba2d4882db0f742665800675b25_crop_ex

As stated, Deion Jones will be a Spy on the RB for routes in the flat and screens. Bryce Hall is our Dime CB this week and will cover Davis if the Black Rhinos go 4 WR. Since they only have 4 healthy WR and 1 healthy TE we will keep our DB’s fresh with extra DB’s on the bench this week.

Coverage Assignments:
·         Terry McLaurin / Kyle Fuller - CB
·         Robbie Anderson / Jonathan Jones - CB
Chase Claypool  / Desmond King CB
·         Corey Davis / Bryce Hall CB
Nick Chubb / Deion Jones - LB
Jared Cook / John Johnson S

Going ICBR. I think it's a defensive contest. With Allen banged up and Waller in check, I don't see Singapore weapons getting open much besides Beasley, who I like in this contest. Singapore running game being just meh, having trouble getting open receivers hurts vs this pass rush, even though Singapore has a very strong tackle duo. On the other side Donald just can't be guarded by this interior OL and will create havoc all game long. Singapore has probably one of the best back 7 in BDL so Tannehill will also struggle. The one mismatch in favor of ICBR, and the deciding factor for me, is the ability of Singapore to run outside the tackles. I think Golden and Reddick get pushed around all game and that will create some scoring opportunities for ICR that make the difference. 19-14 ICBR

I mean, if ICBR is good enough to beat WSR in a rout, they're going to dominate this game.

24-13 ICBR.

You're right. I am down 4-1 with the former division rival and the ever present Malf vote against me each week I should throw in the towel now.

No way Brady can come back from that deficit.

He is free to vote and it would be for Tannehill.  I tagged him last week because he voted in our Week 2 match and voted for Lancaster then btw.

I know he did. I’m just reminding you. When you were down last week you called on him and others to vote.
