Was there any interest in TE Darren Fells, outside of mine.

Solidifies the backup TE spot and we could look for an upside guy come draft time.  2.3 Mil is a pretty good price tag for him.

If you do that don't complain about paying 2 M$ for a backup RB .. old guy, seldom targeted in Houston. Na, not really interested.

That said: I assume all ERFA are re-signs? Can't get any cheaper ..
If so .. add them to the depth chart.

FYI The Chiefs signed Prince Wanogho to a reserve/future contract. The makes five, with WR Antonio Callaway, WR Chad Williams, QB Jordan Ta’amu, and QB Anthony Gordon. If he is not going to be on the SB roster, I expect

Snap counts from the Buffalo game are interesting.

Defense: As noted in the last post, Juan Thornhill is back. He played 77%. Add Sneed's 66%, Fenton's 29% and the big four playing all a play or two, we lived in the nickel/dime packages. Along the front, Chris Jones had a monster game and 74% of the snaps. Frank Clark had 79%. Okafor, TK, Wharton and Nnadi were all between 40% and 60%, with Pennel and Danna in the 20%'s. Losing out were the LB. Hitchens had an outstanding game and played 70%, often as the only LB. Wilson was at 37% and Niemann only 16%. In spite of this, we yielded only 41 yards rushing to everyone but Josh Allen.

Offense: Clyde 49% and Rel 46% split the RB snaps. Hardman had only 35% of the WR snaps. Robinson had 65% and both Pringle and Hill had 80%. Kelce played 91% of the snaps, Keizer only 22%. Of note is Martinas Rankin playing 6 ST snaps. With two weeks to work up, Rankin is a potential fill in for the SB.

Probably all irrelevant for TCMD - unless they are added in the final roster review Mike promised to do.

I wouldn't complain about paying 1 back up RB 2 Mil.     I think it's dumb to keep 2 backups at that price,   one of which doesn't contribute on ST's.    We're essentially paying him 2 Mil to split duties with Darrel,   only (if) CEH gets injured.   I think it's the better option to draft a guy late to split reps with Darrel, if there were to be an injury.   But I will let that one die,  we can keep Damien.

Fells is more of a blocking/ST guy in Houston,  6'7, 270 with blocking skills.  He's pretty athletic for his size, but yeah he was more of a blocker in Houston's deep TE room.    Would get Keizer/Yelder off the field at the cost of a pick swap or late day 3.

This hasn't started yet,  I can't add guys to the Depth Chart if they aren't on the roster yet.

Most of these won't be on the roster,    Mike did a last run Wednesday.      We can definitely pick them up in FA if we want,

but if they weren't on the roster Wednesday on Overthecap,   they won't be in the sheet.

3rd Round(76)
6th Round(202

for

Mitchell Schwartz
3rd Round(96)

That works. Not loving it, but we're getting 4th round value for Schwartz. BTW, we pick #95.

Have you gotten any nibbles on #32?. Ideally, we want picks in the 45-60 range. Say Dallas' 2nd and 3rd for our 1st and 4th.

I haven't even started with Draft Pick trades,   those should pick up once we get through a couple rounds of FA and guys really start focusing on the draft.

This all starts Feb. 8th,    so anything we do right now is just an agreeance between two people via PM.

May be time to have a look at potential re-signings  ... and the cap implications.

If I get it right there will be blind bidding on a limited number of guys per round ... so we may have to decide when and where to commit ...

Guys that may be up early (my judgement in brackets):

Breeland (keep if capwise possible - don't force it)
KPass (keep only if drops)
Sorensen (KEEP!! - CORE RE-SIGNING)
Watkins (out of range)

Mid-term:

Okafor (keep on budget deal)
Reiter (keep on budget deal)
DRob (keep on budget deal)

Later:

Pennel (afterthought)
Remmers (keep)
Sherman (afterthought)
Wisniewski (keep)

Sorensen has a crazy starting APY,   we'll probably have to wait until he drops.     Here's a list of our FA's,   with APY and Years wanted.    You don't have to sign for that amount of years,  but any contract has to meet the APY salary.

Sammy Watkins 16,800,000 7
Daniel Sorensen 13,644,269 5
Bashaud Breeland 9,337,964 6
Le'Veon Bell 5,082,482 5
Damien Wilson 4,593,750 5
Austin Reiter 3,265,144 6
Mike Remmers 2,766,478 3
Demarcus Robinson 2,412,375 7
Tanoh Kpassagnon 1,443,680 4
Daniel Kilgore 1,273,406 2
Anthony Sherman 1,246,875 2
Kelechi Osemele 1,246,875 3
Mike Pennel 1,099,875 5
Antonio Hamilton 1,099,875 7
Stefen Wisniewski 1,080,000 2
Ricky Seals-Jones 971,250 3
Taco Charlton 920,000 4

I would probably try to lock up  Reiter & Remmers on 2 year deals immediately.     Tanoh probably won't last at that cost.   Same with Taco.

We have 4 Bids in the first round,    1 has to be used on a Resign.    The other 3 can be used on UFA from other teams,   or  we can flip and use all 4 on Resignings.         We can also put in Reserve Bids for all players,    So   if we put in a reserve Bid for Austin Reiter for example.. 2/8 Mil,       If another team attempts to resign him for lower,  we win that bid through the reserve.   Decent way to get 5/6 players signed in a round.

Also Okafor isn't currently a FA.    We would have to release him for to be a FA..

We don't have to,     but his contract is voided IRL.   In TCMD  we have him under contract for 2 Mil,   we haven't figured out a way to properly pull voided contracts.    We can keep him for the 2 Mil,    or we can cut.   I would prefer to cut to keep it more realistic to what will happen,  but I'm good with whatever is decided on him.

Just thinking  ..

So, each team has four bids in the first round. Those with big cap will fight about those big name FAs and won't waste their picks on bottom dwellers.
So it's prudent to build depth right now before the big'uns focus in on the third tier guys ...

Hope I got that right ...

That said:

1: Is there a cheap alternative to Reiter at C on another team noone might think about in Round ONE? I have no clue ....
2: Bringing back KPass at THAT rate ... and the DL is set. Anything beyond during the draft is a plus.
3: Remmers. Yes, I want him back. Take him at that rate.
4: Check for budget TE options elsewhere: I'm sure there's someone out there flying under the radar.

That said - my 1st 4 picks:

Remmers: YES/base value
KPass: YES/base value
Reiter: Check for alternates/wait a round
TE: Someone forgotten elsewhere

I'd say.

First Round:
1. Remmers
2. Kpass
3.  Low Value FA LB
4.  TE/C

Reserve Bid on Taco and Reiter

Center List:

0686 - David Andrews - C - GRD: 73.7% - APY: $3,990,000

1298 - Joey Hunt - C - GRD: 37.8% - APY: $920,000

TE List:   If you can find someone worth a dang in this,   I'm all ears.    Compare to Daniel Fells who could be had from flipping a 6th Round to 7th Round swap.

28 Targets,  21 Receptions with a 14.9 average.    That's from a pretty much exclusive blocking TE.  34 Years old,  but he's just a filler.   Can definitely still keep TE as an option in the draft.   Just pushes it to a developmental guy at TE in the draft.
