Starting Salary Cap:   $5,933,921.

Just wondering  .. the latest Excel chart says starting cap would be  -$4,456,079 ...
That of course would throw a wrench into my considerations above ...

I have some FA bids in right now.    Was playing around with some contracts.   I’ll take them out the original number it’s correct

I’m probably going to accept;
Mitchell Schwartz + Round 4 (136)

Round 3(83) + 7 Round(245)

Unless someone speaks up.

No complaints on the ERFA or RFA tenders?
We need to figure out the cap situation before we start thinking about FA bids.

These deals are done.

Chiefs Tender:

ERFA
1900 - Nick Keizer - TE
0063 - Alex Brown - CB

RFA

0649 - Darrel Williams - RB -  ROFR - No Comp.
0337 - Byron Pringle - WR -  ROFR - No Comp.
0423 - Charvarius Ward - CB -  ROFR - 2nd Rnd. Comp.

Chiefs Trade:

1831 - Mitchell Schwartz - RT   &  Round 4 (136)

Bears Trade:

Round 3(83) + 7 Round(245)

Is anyone wanting to RFA Tag;    TE Deon Yelder,  OG Andrew Wylie,  LB Ben Niemann.     $2,240,000  is the lowest cost tender wise,   I didn't do these,  but I throw it back at you if anyone disagrees.

Looking at FA and the rules. Re-signings first. One of the four bids per round has to be placed on one of our own. Three more bits can be placed elsewhere or on own players.

Veteran Minimum Salary is 990 k$ (4-6 years) aand 1,075 k$ (7+ years). Veteran Salary Benefit (VSB) contracts  will count 850 k$ against the caop, however, I'm not sure TCMD will accept that kind of contract.

The players:
RB Le'Veon Bell:     5/ $5,080,482 - no thanks
FB Anthony Sherman:  2/ $1,246,875 - wouldn't mind having him back but not at this price. So let's wait a round or two.
TE Ricky Seals-Jones:   3/ $971,250 - no thanks
WR Demarcus Robinson:  7/ $2,412,375 - wouldn't mind having him back but not at this price. So let's wait a round or two.
WR Sammy Watkins:   7/ $16,800,000 - no thanks. Not worth anything close to that price and won't last until Round 8 of bidding
LG Stefen Wisniewski:  2/ $1,080,000 - someone to consider
LG Kelechi Osemele:   3/ $1,246,875- someone to consider
C Austin Reiter:   6/$3,265,144 - I'm torn. Don't really like him but how to replace him? So let's wait a round or two.
C Daniel Kilgore: 2/$1,273,406 - wouldn't mind having him back but not a priority early on.
RG Mike Remmers: 3/ $2,766,478 - someone to consider
DE Tanoh Kpassagnon:  4/ $1,443,680 - someone to consider
DE Taco Charlton:  4/ $920,000 - wouldn't mind having him back but not a priority early on. If KPass returns we don't need him now.
DT Mike Pennel: 5/ $1,099,875- someone to consider
LB Damien Wilson: 5/$4,593,750 - wouldn't mind having him back but not at this price. So let's wait a round or two.
CB Bashaud Breeland: 6/ $9,337,964- would love having him back but not possible at this price. So let's wait and see.
CB Antonio Hamilton:  7/$1,099,875 - an afterthought
S Daniel Sorensen: 5/ $13,644,269- would love having him back but not possible at this price. So let's wait and see.

So ... Round 1 I'd go:

Bids on KPass and Remmers at the listed price, totalling in roughly 3 M$ in cap if successful.
Minimum reserve bids on Osemele, Pennel, Wisniewski and Robinson unless you re-consider the Washington deal.

Assumption is that those contracts are without any guarantees, so we can release them without cap implications if other options (especially draft) come on.

Wonder if we should have a look at Demetrius Harris again at listed price plus 7% to outbid a Chicago reserve bid at minimum.

Didn't check for other teams' FA other than the few samsel listed above yet. Is there a complete list of Free Agents? Didn't find one ...

  • Definitely consider Wisniewski. Same age as Schwartz. Ditto Osemele. We have Durant and Allegretti as young OG, but could use some veteran leadership.
  • Taco is a no-brainer. He's purely a situational player, but an extremely good one.
  • Remmers and Reiter are necessary with the Schwartz deal. Remmer gives us a starter opposite Niang. If we don't keep Reiter, we need a C in the first round.
  • TK is a no-brainer at that price.
  • Probably not Pennel. We have Wharton to fill his role.
  • Sherman, Bell, Watkins, Breeland and Sorensen are a lot to replace, but we cannot keep any of them.

What do we want to do extension/restructure wise?   Did you like the Extensions I had for  Tyreek Hill, Tyrann Mathieu, and Anthony Hitchens on the previous page?   I think those are solid opening up room this year and next year.

Just trying to get a grip on where we're at cap wise before we get into bids.    Also Eric Fisher is going to be another we need to address before we get into FA bids..  do we want to keep?  or cut loose with just one year left on his deal(and his injury status)

If you want to look at players in UFA,    the link to the roster sheet has a worksheet to scout UFA.  I already have quite a few in the list.

I am on board with your analysis on restructuring/extension.

Fisher fills a roster spot, but it's unclear if he fills a starting spot. Since we are trading Schwartz, we absolutely need Remmers. If we let Fisher walk, then we also need a day #2 or FA OT. I'll take a look at UFA tonight.

Restructures are ok for me .. and I did a rough cap estimate further up considering those.

Fisher real world you can't release injured ...

Reiter .. I dunno ... any free agents out there as alternatives?

suggested to use a reserve re-sign on him .. but get active ourselves only after the price went down.

I'm pretty sure you can release a vested veteran,  if they are injured.   It's the guys who haven't been in the league long enough,  that teams typically have to work out an injury settlement for.     I don't know that for a fact,  but I'm pretty sure you can.   I mean we released Eric Berry.

Here's some guys I was looking at;   A lot of our PS guys I placed on there as well,    KC and TB  don't have the luxury of automatically having them on the roster,  as our season isn't finished.

I also got a good laugh at Tajae Shapre APY at 8 Mil,  when he's on our PS currently.

David Andrews,  Austin Blythe,  and Reiter all solid options for cheap.
LT market is alright if we need a spot starter for a year.  We'd most likely want to grab one up first round though.

Villanueva
Remmers
Tanoh
????  I had Denzelle Good,  but I'm open on this one.  Good played well at a couple different spots for the Raiders,   very solid depth and a strong, strong due.

Were how I pictured the first round.   With Reserve Bids on;

Austin Reiter
DeAndre Baker
Taco Charlton
Daryll Williams
Damien Wilson

I'd bump Reiter up to the 4th spot. Then you can put the position to bed. If we lose him, we need a C with the #32 pick.

With Fisher's injury and the amount of money he frees up, I think we have to do it. Villnueava, Remmers and Niang can cover us for a year. Get another OT day #2 or early day #3. I think with Reiter and the OG in house we can call the OL patched and look for value.

For the first round, don't lock in on one or two positions. Have at least for or five and draft the best value among those positions. One of them should be TE. We have a 32 year old starter and nothing at all behind him.

Ideally we trade back to the 40-50 range, but there are players to trade up to get.
