Value Analysis: Mike Williams WR Chargers

Former pro bowl and 1000 yard receiver playing on the last year of his rookie deal. He is set to count for 15 million this year unless the Chargers can extend or find a trade partner. Wondering what the trade value would be on a young big receiver with legit deep play ability considering he will also likely wanting #1 WR contract money or top tier #2.

Health concerns will tank him - I don't think he's ever made it though a full season.

A 3rd and 5th that can turn into a 2/5 depending on performance and health benchmarks? It's not too different than what Oakland/LV gave for Antonio Brown...

“Former 1,000 yard receiver”, not technically incorrect, but...

2017: 11/95/0

2018: 43/664/10

2019: 49/1001/2

2020: 48/756/5

Hard to be impressed with these numbers, besides saying he’s clearly a guy that can catch a contested deep ball. If Williams wants a #1 wide receiver contract or even something in that $15M, I’d pass altogether.

He's Will Fuller in essence - big play guy who can have flashes of brilliance, but can't seem to stay healthy.

Williams is probably better overall, but I doubt there's much to consider for a trade opportunity.

Only 2018 with regards to playing every game. I’ll never forget that KC game 😊

Honestly hope Chargers resign him. If he can stay healthy he will put together monster seasons with Herbert da God. They better resign Hunter to.

Hunter is probably the #1 priority. I like MW but you don’t keep the guy unless he’s putting up #7 overall numbers like Hopkins and Evans.

That’s kind of where I thought it would be. Now being on the 5th year option and with mega deals attached to KA13 and Bosa... he might be outright cut if he doesn’t agree to a long term contract extension at significantly less then 15m/yr. I don’t know what the market truly is for a WR like Jackson. The closest comparison in my mind is Tyrell Williams with the Raiders. 4 years/44 million 50% guaranteed is kind of steep coming off the season he had though.

Don't believe he's better than Fuller.

He's a really hard player to evaluate, since he's a contested ball specialist, with some sneaky speed, but honestly, his on the field game doesn't measure up to all that.

He has fantastic, but mostly unrealized upside. And you start to wonder if he'll ever be able to put it all together, or even able to, given his injury record.

I feel his best bet is to stay with the Chargers, and I think that's what the team wants, also, but he'll get nowhere near WR1 money.

This is - word for word - exactly how I'd describe Fuller.

I think Williams is better in 50/50 situations, and Fuller is better on those downfield routes that let the QB just fling it past the Safeties to let Fuller run it down.

All in all, it depends on how you choose to value those two specific talents - because everything else is sort of a push between those two.

I think he has the tools to be a great RZ threat, but he never gets that looks. It may be an Ekeler/Keenan/Henry factor, but honestly he should be a lot more productive than he actually is.
