Texans Top Needs (no order):

WR

DL

S

CB

EDGE Rusher

LB

Draft Picks:

Round 3, Pick 67:  QB Davis Mills-  Stanford

Round 3, Pick 89 (via Clevland, and Carolina): WR Nico Collins- Michigan

Round 5, Pick 147:  TE Brevin Jordan- Miami

Round 5, Pick 170th (via Cleveland, Jacksonville, Los Angeles Rams): LB Garret Wallow- TCU

Round 6, Pick 195th (via Dallas, New England):  DT Roy Lopez- Arizona

For the 2nd time in 5 years the Texans will be without a 1st and 2nd round pick.  This will be the first draft under new GM Nick Caserio.  It will be interesting to see how he does given the circumstances.  I will make a thread for each player picked so we can discuss them individually.

Totally disagree that WR is our top need; I would even argue that it is our lowest need other than LS (Weeks=  G-O-A-T)

My order of "need" as we realistically have holes everywhere EXCEPT WR or LB:

QB :(Edge; SAF; CB; DT; IOL; RB; TE; OT; LB; WR

My "realistic" Big Board

QB Jamie Newman

QB Feleipe Franks

RB Trey Sermon

RB Chris Evans

RB Kene Nwangwu

WR Jalen Camp

WR Jacob Harris

TE Tre McKitty

TE Brock Wright

OT Tommy Doyle

OT Matt Farniok

IOL Quinn Meinerz

IOL Trey Smith

IOL Kendrick Green

IOL Sadarius Hutcherson

IDL Milton Williams

IDL Bobby Brown III

IDL Jonathan Marshall

IDL Kenny Randall (UDFA)

Edge Joseph Ossai

Edge Elerson Smith

Edge Shaka Toney

LB Jamin Davis

LB Baron Browning

LB Nick Niemann

LB Ben Hladik

CB Ifeatu Melifonwu

CB Robert Rochell

CB Marco Wilson

CB Brandin Echols

S Divine Deablo

S Caden Sterns

S James Wiggins

S Tyler Coyle (UDFA)

Still have some hope that we -

Sign IOL Ross Reynolds (SFA)

Re-sign DT PJ Hall (Randall could be his replacement)

Re-sign LB Dylan Cole (Niemann could be his replacement)

Re-sign CB Gareon Conley (fingers crossed as he would make solid #2 CB)

Trade for 1 of these 3 safeties this draft class sucks in terms of safeties IMHO

SS Taravarius Moore (SF)

SS Jordan Lucas (CHI)

SS Eric Rowe (MIA)

Acquire CB Isaiah Johnson (LV)

So my ideal Friday would look like this:

(1) Trade CB Lonnie Johnson Jr. & 3-67 to Las Vegas for 2-47 & CB Isaiah Johnson

(2) Select Edge Joseph Ossai who falls to 2-47

(3) Trade T Charlie Heck + 4-109 to CHI for SS Jordan Lucas + 3-83

(4) Select IOL Quinn Meinerz who falls to 3-83

On Saturday

(5) Trade 5-147 + 6-203 into bottom of 4th for DT Bobby Brown III

(6) 5-158 T Tommy Doyle

(7) 6-195 RB Chris Evans

(8) 6-212 LB Nick Niemann

(9) 7-233 WR Jalen Cammp

(10) 8th Round / UDFA signees: QB Feleipe Franks; TE Brock Wright; DL Kenny Randall; & S Tyler Coyle

Alright... enough drinking (Uncle Nearest!) and typing for tonight

the needs werent in order.  Defense definitely is a top priority.   Aside from Cooks im not a big fan of our wr's especially long term.

I don't think it's our top need, but it's easily top 3 for sure. We have Cooks for two more years, who's a solid #1. Conley is on a 1 year deal. Cobb is gone after next season. Coutee has proven that he's incredibly inconsistent and is a free agent after this season. Roberts is a returner only, and the others are all unproven. The way I look at it, next season we could be looking at 3 of our top 4 from this year being gone. I'd rather take a WR in round 3 or 4 now and give them time to develop this season to avoid massive (and expensive) turnover next season.

If we had our 1st and 2nd rounders who would YOU have selected?

at pick 3 I would have gone with Ja'Marr Chase.  At pick 37 I would have gone with an EDGE rusher like Joe Tryon or  Jayson Oweh.

God I hate Bill O'Brien!

That 3rd pick could have set this team up - trade it to 12 and get a haul from SF, and pick up a guy like South Carolina's Jaycee Horn, use that 2nd rounder on one of the North Carolina RBs - probably Javonte Williams.

Definitely trade down with 49ers. I was listening to a podcast and they brought up a good point about WRs in the top 10; unless it's a generational talent like Julio Jones, AJ Green, or Calvin Johnson, it's not worth it. Below are the WRs taken in the top 10 the past 10 years. Not to say Chase won't do well, but I'm apprehensive unless it's someone who you know is going to be special. We were supposed to pick 3rd overall because we have way too many holes on our roster so BPA all day.

Corey Davis, pick 5 (2017)

Mike Williams, pick 7 (2017)

John Ross, pick 9 (2017)

Amari Cooper, pick 4 (2015)

Kevin White, pick 7 (2015)

Sammy Watkins, pick 4 (2014)

Mike Evans, pick 7 (2014)

Tavon Austin, pick 8 (2013)

Justin Blackmon, pick 5 (2012)

AJ Green, pick 4 (2011)

Julio Jones, pick 6 (2011)

Rodgers wants out of GB 🧐

3 way deal where GB gets Watson, 9ers get Rodgers and we get picks and players??

I bet Cesario is the one whispering in Rodgers ear: "Look how they treated you last year.  I would want to play for franchise that respects what I have done for them. "  LOL

He learned all of Belichick's moves...
