Yeah but if KJ Wright, Ngakoue, Hayward, McCoy, Jefferson, etc all suck I think that will be something. Not to mention Moehrig replacing Harris, Joyner not being on the team anymore, and having Ferrell/Nassib as the depth guys instead of Key. Hard to say it’s not a lot better.

Hayward/McCoy are both older now and Hayward didn't play well last season. I think Wright and Ngakoue are clear upgrades but Jefferson is an average player. Moehrig in theory should be an upgrade but he's a rookie that will be asked to hold it down in single high.

On paper our defense definitely looks better this year but we have a ton of boom/bust players at all 3 levels.

Yeah of course but we will be better even if a lot of these guys and others whiff. It’s also possible some of the young players could take a step up.

Of course we definitely can be better with a better DC and more talent on paper. I just want to see it in action first before I get my hopes up.

I was never a fan of Collins but hoped what other people saw was correct.  I wanted Guenther gone from the start.

We have discussed MM play against the Chargers from last year a lot.  He did not shred the defense but did a good job of executing Gruden's offense the way it is suppose to be run.  He only passed for 226 yards with 1 TD and 1 Int.  He did his damage with his legs because he had his team ready to take on Carr who does not run.  This is also why many questioned how good MM really is and wanted him to start the remaining 2 games.  He has had months to prepare his defense for Jackson.  There should be no surprises unless Lamar has somehow figured out how to be an accurate passer.  I would say our defense actually holds the advantage because the Ravens have no idea of what to think of our defense and how it will produce.

Anybody curious as to why the Ravens are getting hit with so many injuries for our game just needs to look at the classless front page of the Ravens forum thread Ravens vs Raiders.  I did not say anything but it is bush league to celebrate that illegal play that may have cost us another SB.
