Whitehead back is huge with SMB out. With Carlton and Dean on the boundaries we should see plenty of AWJ, Edwards and Whitehead on the field at the same time with one of them playing nickel.

If Whitehead plays like he did in the 2nd half of the season last year, it is a huge help. According to PFF he was the 2nd worst out of qualifying safeties in 2019, 60th out of 91 safeties the first 8 games last year, 20th out of 98 qualifying safeties weeks 9-17 and 5th out of 32 in the playoffs. Winfield mentioned in an interview that Whitehead is making the calls in the secondary, so maybe he is much more important with his improved play than people realize.

Dean was apparently dealing with a personal issue and with SMB going out early with an injury, maybe it was just truly a house of cards in game 1 that was an anomaly.

I think the Bucs look better against Atlanta.

Agreed, you could see the vast improvement in his game down the stretch run last year and it came to light in the playoffs. it looked like it finally was clicking on him recognizing routes and where he needed to be in his assignments in zone coverage.

Getting him back this week, will allow Edwards to fill-in at the slot as needed and take some of the pressure off the reserve CBs.

We gotta remember, Dallas threw a ton of different looks at us in week 1. You could tell the timing/communication just wasn't there yet and that's typical for defense's the first couple weeks.
