Although I agree Vildor didn't necessarily have a good game (at first watch).....I'd suggest considering using a better source next time because PFF is terrible. The All-22 footage is not even released yet. How are they grading him based on every play when they can't even see him or the defensive assignments.

Vildor made some good tackles and good plays in coverage but I dont think it was enough to make up for the amount of mishaps either. It was an average game, at best.

The staff really screwed up when they moved him from NB to boundary. He has the ability to be a healthier Callahan at NB but a liability at boundary.

Agreed...for me we sign a proper #2 CB and it fixes NB as well since I believe Vildor can play far better inside than out.

I mean, they can and they should.

Imagine signing three WR’s in free agency and then taking one with our first pick lol.

How can you question him anytime he was a DC only? As I said he is the one guy BB handed the keys too and he never dropped the ball in NE...

Why would we not attack the WR spot considering we can all see it's a problem? Godwin would be the money signing but Sanders & Berrios would be replacing guys we let go...we already know we need more weapons for this scheme and for Daboll's you need at least 4 receivers who can contribute.

This is great work, thanks

The problem with our approach to this year is that NEXT year is going to be partly a rebuilding year due to all the holes and lack of resources.  Since he have a good shot at Fields being for real, we need to build around him and that's going to mean some uncomfortable decisions on the d.  Desai (or whoever) is going to have to accept some backup level players starting.  If it means we can put together a good OL and decent WR group it's worth it.

So much of next year depends on what we have in Jenkins and Borom. I haven't really noticed Borom making many mistakes so it's encouraging but early.  If we see teams taking advantage of him, and Jenkins doesn't return or comes back and looks bad we are in real trouble.  If they both look solid with promise next season gets a lot easier and we can focus on value and skill positions at WR and CB. If not... we're going to end up paying a Leno level player plus beind forced to draft OT early and hope for the best.

It would be awesome if all we need next year on the OL is depth and C and maybe a G to replace Daniels if he wants a big contract, but the worst case is we could be looking at needing C, G, OT and maybe another OT.

Am I missing something about Vildor? I’ve watched every game this season and in every game this dude gets destroyed. There is at least 2 big plays a game against this guy. I honestly can’t remember a worse CB playing for the Bears in my lifetime.

He is playing completely out of position...now more than ever that NB spot is a specialised position.

And Shelley has his flaws at NB but he would be a good depth too. Even moreso in dime coverage.

I think Shelley has actually been decent at NB for us, so I'm not sure Vildor takes his spot if the #2 spot is upgraded next offseason, as it should be.

Who are the top centers besides the Iowa dude, and are any of them worth it with our 2nd round pick? That i think is priority #1 for us, then would use our 3rd for a CB.  think we can get a new WR and G in FA. Whitehair also needs to go i think. His cap hit is $12 next year and $14 the following year, and he is just not worth that.

I guess if I used there grading system you could say that, so maybe suggest something else. All I did is use a quote from them saying the stats he allowed that game and over the year. But I guess if you like the CB giving up passes as much as he does because he makes good tackles, then we like different types of CBs.

No way Williams is there that late. He's the best Alabama WR and that speaks volumes. I like the idea though

I think he is still behind both Ohio State WRs...Burkes...Bell...London is raising fast and has great size...a healthy Ross or Pickens still go ahead of him as well so I reckon that ranking is just about right.

Whitehair is here next year regardless because of his guaranteed money...I have him moving to centre where his lack of power wouldn't be as big a problem as it is just now.

Williams is way too fast to be behind Burkes who runs almost no routes. I'd take Williams over Ross, Pickens and Olave (he has almost no YAC ability).

What I'm trying to say is I hope he does fall and you're right. I have really high hopes for him

Nah...my suggestion was just fine.  PFF is terrible and nobody should use them in any capacity. There are much better alternatives out there who are more credible than they are.

Yes, the stats they charted from a televised game . And where do think their horrible player grades derive from?! The stats they end up. That's part of the reason why they take so much heat and why they're a terrible source of information.

But hey.... if you like companies who take advantage of hungover college kids looking to make a few bucks (b/c it's cheaper) to chart games from a televised view in a comical guessing game fashion that are made up from angles that you can't even see then...hey... feel free to keep on trusting them. Enjoy. Noone is stopping you or anyone else. I'll just keep shaking my head whenever anyone defers to that overrated trash company regarding anything remotely close to how good or bad a player is.

But, I'm done. Madmike put alot of effort into this thread and we're derailing it. Back to topic.....

Yep, I move him back to C and start crosstraining someone else. Mustipher just doesn't have the ability to be a starter and if Whitehair goes down then we are severely screwed. I'd be fine with training Bars to be the backup or (if you're certain Borom isn't the OT of your future) then even doing the same with him. Even if he is the back up C next year he is getting snaps in practice, then when cutting Whitehair for 2023 he can take over full time. He is plenty strong and athletic for C, and Borom even moreso.

My believe is in importance that positions on an OL go LT>RT>C>LG>RG

*** And that is with there being a small difference between the tackle spots and between the guard spots. I'd be drafting almost all OTs from college and moving them where they can best help rather than drafting a limited athlete (except in later rounds, since I drafted Trey Smith in the 4th IIRC. His ceiling was certainly high enough for the risk.)
