2 years 4 million for Siemian

-Does not qualify for comp picks

-Foles being cut would net them 1 million in savings.

That’s a damn solid deal from the team side for an experienced backup. Especially to lock in that low rate for 2 years.

Bears actually found a way to downgrade their QB situation.

Nick Foles sucks bro, and if he had to play we'd burn 50% of our playbook.

They both suck. Statistically, Siemian sucks more. He's not noticeably more athletic or mobile than Foles.

I actually like Siemian as a backup QB. He doesn't turn the ball over and can be a maintenance man if Fields is hurt for a game or two. He reminds me of a Chase Daniels signing.

At worst it’s a push IMO. And realistically, if either Siemien or Foles is playing significant snaps for us we’re probably screwed anyway, just like pretty much every team whose starting QB is out for an extended period of time.

In 4 starts last year Siemien led the Saints to 25, 21, 29 and 6 points (6 was against BUF, who had the league’s #1 defense, in a game in which Kamara, Hill and Calloway (plus Michael Thomas) did not play). For a backup QB asking much more than 20 ppg is a probably unrealistic. By comparison, in Foles’ last extended run as a starter (7 games in 2020) we averaged 16.7 ppg, and that was with Allen Robinson in his best Bears season.

Not really. Foles’ career completion percentage is a little higher (62.4 to 58.9), but excluding Foles’ extreme outlier season (27 TD, 2 INT), which was nine years ago, Siemien has the better TD-INT ratio. Their career yards per game are essentially the same (207 for Siemien and 205 for Foles) and career yards per attempt are identical (6.7).

What happens to this comparison after you exclude Siemian's outlier year?
