We do not have a ton of guys who will qualify.

Hicks and Dalton probably clear the 3 million threshold. That means we could sign 1 more UFA to get Robinson's pick back.

You also have to take into account if we sign players who were released it won't count

Yes we can sign cut players, but realistically we can only sign one more UFA if we want any chance of Robinson's pick.

Dalton and Hicks could also sign after the comp pick deadline and really screw us.

It is unlikely that we will get a comp pick. We just are not going to lose enough guys.

We might as well make a big signing like Armstead, and not pass on him to protect a comp pick that is a long shot to come in.

But as much as Armstead is injured do we really want to sink a significant amount of money in him. We don't want another DT on our hands do we?

I’d offer Collins huge money. Make him say no to go to the contender. That’s an impact signing. Armstead’s health issues worry me.

Agree. Armstead is the better OT, for the 10 games you should get out of him.

The risk for a perennial Pro Bowl LT who will protect your young QB is different than for a solid off ball LB.

When Armstead is on the field he is still an All Pro player. When DT is on the field he looks like  wounded animal.

The optimal word here is "when".  What about the other half of the season? We ain't paying him half the pay.

Good signing. He can play.

Also allows you to trade Quinn during the season if you get an offer.

We likely had added Muhammad and Jones for less than Larry O was going to average. These were the reasonable deal for the defense.

Almost 0 shot at a comp pick now.
