notthatbluestuff
The Texans were supposed to be - and still might be - the most talent-poor roster heading into the season. They were expected to get between 0-2 wins. They have 4. Still sucks; still a crappy season, true... but has David Culley already exceeded expectations for Houston? Ready for the guaranteed 2022 Culley tour.
kingseanjohn
I'd call it a win for Culley but a major loss for the city of Houston.
Chiefs_5627
I don't watch enough Texan games to make an informed opinion but I'm guessing any coach, short of BB, wasn't gonna be able to field much of a winner with the front office they have. So in that regard I'd imagine Culley didn't exactly fail to reach expectations.
Chiefer
They believe in him, and if you dont lose the locker room you probably dont lose the team

Cunningham was released because of it. Reid is likely leaving because he doesn't want to deal with. Basically any player that is good enough to no worry if they can find another job has had issues with the coach/FO. @ET80 can back me up

Granted the Chargers are hurting, but theyre still a pretty good team.

Are suggesting that means there weren't issues in that locker room. Culley isn't Dan Campbell, he doesn't have the players rallying around him like that

The expectations were that Culley would unite the locker room and absorb the losses to the media so people would forget about Jack Easterby. So, he met half of his expectations - nobody is talking about Jack Easterby anymore. The locker room is pretty fractured, with several veterans looking for the door.
Thelonebillsfan
Campbell has an equally coherent ownership and equally talentless locker room but we haven't heard any talk of breaking amongst the ranks, dissent, or internal issues as they play hard each and every week. Culley fluked into a couple weird wins, but he's failed at basically everything else he was brought in to do, and in some cases has made the instability worse.

So yeah - let's not get carried away here.

This locker room was lost, but the media isn't talking about Jack Easterby anymore... so that's all this FO is concerned about.
StatKing
The worst thing that could happen to the Texans is this guy somehow manages to coach them to a winning season. He was the most obvious stop gap hire I think I've ever seen in sports. I don't think he was ever supposed to make it past year 3.
ThatJaxxenGuy
Yes, he turned what could have been a one year rental job to command the tank and burn it down to probably buying another year as the head coach and possibly a third off the toughness of the team. Huge success for his career.

I mean that didnt look like a lost locker room to me out there, they played their hearts out. im just a guy whos seen one texans game this year, what do i know. Im sure the last two games the Texans will lose horribly to make you fans happy
