What’s the best package we could get for Rodgers?

Anyone know if there’s a compensation scale for franchise tagging & trades?  Or maybe a precedent?

Mostly a mid round pick, which would make sense since that's what you'd expect to receive as a comp pick when that guy leaves anyways

If we go this route with Adams, and I’m not convinced we will, I think we would be THRILLED with a 2nd and 4th return in 2022.

I mean, it's hard to come up with a better context in which to escort a legend out the door.

To wit:
- A lot of the fanbase blame him for the playoff loss
- A lot of the fanbase have turned on him personally
- There's a salary cap crunch and he's got the biggest number
- There's another guy waiting in the wings.
- If a team believes they're "A QB away" they're not going to find that guy in the draft this year (this is a straight bad QB draft).

I would be genuinely surprised if he's back.

This is where I'm at too. Timing seems critical in these situations. Add the losses on coaching staff, and it just feels like a rebuild.

One can hope, but that seems far fetched

Yes, it may be a longshot in terms of finding a willing trade partner, but the compensation itself (e.g., three 1sts) is not unreasonable. I mean, recall that Detroit got two 1sts, a 3rd, and Jared Goff in the trade for Stafford with the Rams.

You're not gonna split town without telling the folks you've been working with for 17 years whats up and why. Simply not gonna relay that info via your Agent. That's the equivalent of breaking up via text.

GB only has the tag power over Adams if they can build up enough $$$ to cover the tag cost - hence, roster maneuvering is necessary.

Just to be clear, I don't think we need to clear the cap space to tag Adams either. The tag is not effective until the player signs it. So we would only have to apply it, Denver would trade for him, and then it would be removed prior to free agency.

The trick of it is, why would Denver trade a 2 and 4 for Adams when they know there are no other suitors? I guess cause Rodgers demands it and they don't want to bid against other teams in free agency.

To be honest, I don't know who holds the power in this situation.

Consider this..

So Rodgers told McAfee he'd come on his show  when his decision is made and announce it on the air.

Do you actually think the Packers are going to allow Rodgers to get his narrative out first on a trade?

No, they would announce it first themselves.

Any ANNOUNCEMENT Rodgers will have will involve him resigning with Green Bay.  He would have knowledge of that.

Hes not going on McAfee and announcing a trade before the Packers do.  Won't happen.

They'd probably be ok with him announcing an extension followed by a Packer statement.

So if Rodgers is telling McAfees audience about coming on with a big announcement already.   He's probably got an extension he's mulling over.  He's not coming on and announcing a trade.  That announcement would already likely have been done.

Look, I'd like to get a huge haul for him, I mean he's 39, hasn't been successful in the playoffs, weve all seen this movie for 10 years.  I get your all your points, I really do, but I think he's staying.

You folks can debate whether that's good or bad, I'm just saying he's staying.

Adams will draw more interest than Rodgers.  Won't get as much in a trade as Rodgers but there will be much more interest.

?? I dont think Rodgers is saying squat about whats up on McAfee's show until it's happened - and once it's happened - I dont think the FO cares if he says it.

Do you think the Cleveland Cavs thought the same thing in 2010 during Lebrons “Decision” broadcast?

You have never seen/ heard a TV or radio tease before?

"We have this compelling new story.....right after this commercial break".

Rodgers could very well decide to announce that he if "open to a trade to a select group of teams".

More compelling drama to remain in the headlines.

“I’ve decided that despite having a ton of gratitude for my time in Green Bay, it’s time to pursue greener pastures elsewhere”

I think if we are being honest with ourselves, that’s the message he’s laid the groundwork for over the last few months.  He doesn’t need to announce a trade is done.  But he COULD go on the punters show with the final decision, even before he tells GB his decision.  It’s right in the narcissistic playbook if we are being completely honest.
