He missed 2 weeks with his last one. It could be a month, it could be the year, it could be forever with the next one. Its an actual brain injury. I care and KC would care. Broncofan Posted March 23, 2022 Share Posted March 23, 2022 (edited) Re: Cooks, assuming he's healthy, he's likely signing a good AAV deal in 2023 as a FA, which nets a late-3rd / late-4th at worst. And he helps the young guys progress (not just the QB, but the WR's - let's face it, don't think Mills will be their 2023 QB). On the other hand, you have to count the entire formula, and more importantly, you have to wait until 2024 to get a pick return. Realizing the production helps right away, the year is cheap, it seems like a 3rd round pick in playoff round is very fair, and given how the market is really valuing impact WR's, makes a ton of sense for both HOU and whoever pays up (likely KC in this situation). He's literally the most reliable WR who can bring a true WR1, deep-threat-who-can-also-win-short-area-reliably (a lot less YAC ability than Tyreek, but that's a given). And yes, he's got a major concussion flag (next one could very well be career-ending) - but the price is to win now. If you don't get Cooks, and stay with the guys you've got, likely you have no WR1. In a lot of ways, only paying for a 1 cost-controlled years makes it a better match (HOU can't ask for more than a late 3rd with only 1 year and the risk/comp-year compensation as the floor).
