Yup. Inflexibility and panic is how you end up with Christian Ponder.

While I understand This mentality, KAM may not have a long runway, to think he has lots of time either. He could have an internal time clock, where eventually its gotta be go time, or there is someone who can replace his own seat. And nothing ties a GM to a team, more than drafting what ppl believe is the QBOTF. So even if we just took a QB in the 3rd round, i would expect some really good practice praises from KOC/KAM throughout the season, so the narrative is partially setup where they can walk away from Cousins

Since they’ve owned the team, what have the Wilfs done or implied that shows they are prone to knee-jerk moves with coaches or front office personnel?

Not all GMs are created equally. KAM might have other experiences that drive his own decision making & rationality

Nothing gets a GM fired faster than drafting the wrong QBOTF, either.

If KAM moves on from Cousins and doesn’t have/get his QBOTF, he won’t be selling wins or selling hope. He’d be selling that he’s replaceable.

He’d still not have a QB track record and he’d be easy to move on from $ wise. Heck aren’t they still paying Rick more then KAM now, so they could be other motivations involved. He doesn’t have a lifetime to get it right, he has 2 more years to sell something, before he could be let go after the 3rd

Is this a real post? That somehow he can find his QBotF in the next fifteen months, with late first round picks? Or be fired? They just won 13 games......

Rick Spielman was employed with this team for ten years after drafting Christian Ponder

Kwesi is not Spielman. He is not going to have a plus ten year runway, if he decides to not take chances at QB eventually.  Rick took some chances at QB, most didn’t work, but he got the contract extensions

They needed a QB and because he did show athletic ability, toughness and was super smart they took a chance on him.  Obviously having multiple Masters degrees or a Doctorate or whatever he had is pretty meaningless when it comes to being a QB in the NFL.

Passed on Andy Dalton but not sure he was worth a high 1st rounder, same with Colin K.  And they could not get Locker or Gabbert but both of them sucked also.

Yeah before they picked Ponder was Favre, Tarvaris Jackson and Joe Webb...  Then McNabb, Ponder and Joe Webb....  I honestly cannot recall McNabb even playing for Minnesota but apparently started 6 games Ponder's rookie year.  The rent an old QB thing got really old....  Sucks Teddy got hurt, he was pretty legit before that injury and still is a decent QB but is physically so frail.

he was horribly inaccurate. would sail a ball over the head of a receiver and the next play throw it in the dirt.

I don't know how anyone could forget that, unless they were under the age of 10 in 2011.
