TitanSlim Posted March 26, 2023 Share Posted March 26, 2023 I’m not against Watkins, as I think we need a vet in our WR room. Like a Watkins, Marvin Jones or Jarvis Landry. Then sign a guy like Zaccheaus. Head into the season with Burks/Rookie WR/Zaccheaus/Philips/Vet WR and McMath and NWI battling for the last WR spot. Still not necessarily great but it’s something. They would have raised the floor of talent for sure, but at what cost. I'm not losing sleep about not having River Cracroft on the team. Fact is we are up against the cap. We could free up a lot more money but they don't want to kick the can down the road or tie themselves to aging players I would have traded or walked away from Tannehill just because. Even if I did, Hopkins has actually been a relevant receiver this decade compared to Watkins. But the way this team is constructed and has run. That 3rd WR needs to do more than exist. He has to do something special teams wise too most likely. Maybe can get the same production from an 4th/5th round guy for cheap. Again in this offense... How often are we in 3 plus WR sets. Burks, high draft pick, Chig, NWI, Phillips.
