  1. 1. What should the Packers do about their defensive coordinator?

    • Fire MLF, he hired him
    • Fire Joe Barry immediately and get somebody who will play aggressive defense
    • MLF should lay down the law with Barry to stop playing not to lose, get aggressive
    • Ride it out and see what happens this season then make a decision
    • Joe Barry is great

6 first round picks on the field last night = Barry coached up a bunch of JAGs lol

Can't make this **** up

Come on really!!! You are better than arguing that.

3 of of those 6 haven't even been in the League 2 years. Out of the other 3, one most likely won't get a 2nd contract.

Every team have multiple 1st rounders and 2nd rounders on their rosters. Chiefs had Karlaftis, Uzomah, McDuffie, Jones, Cook, Gay,

Anyway who gives crap if they are 1st rounders or not, it doesn't matter what round they came in, can they play, do we get a pass that Valentine is a 7th rounder. We never gave Rodgers a 1st round WR, does it really matter? Nope.

The talent on the back end is rookies and journey men and Barry is getting a good tune out of them. That says a lot more than the draft capital invested. Barry has now consistently got journeyman players to play well, Douglas, Nixon, Campbell, Ballentine, Owen's.

Except if that result happens game after game after game l, then it ain't blind luck.

Barry track record over the last 16 games proves that.

If you break down any game it is all about situational outcomes. If Love doesn't convert that hail mary 4th and 2 play, it is a different game. All these things come down to certain moments and most are out of a coordinators hand.

Do the players want to play for him? Yup! Can he coach up a bunch of JAGs? Yup!

Barry has done better the past few games when he is AGGRESSIVE and rushes the passer.  His biggest fault is what happened on the 3rd and 20 yards play:  he rushes 3 guys, plays a soft zone and bam .. completion and 1st down which then ends up them getting a td.  He got them to the 3rd and 20 by being aggressive and then craps the bed with doing something stupid.  Keep doing what got them to that point; it's not rocket science.

How many other coordinators in the League would have done the same, dropped 8 into coverage when the offence needs 20 yards. Sounds like a reasonable argument to me.

Maybe the thing to do is add a defensive run game specialist to this mix of coaches, and get that run game shored up.  It's looking like Barry isn't going anywhere, but it is hard to be impressed with our performance vs. the run.  Get a guy in here prior to the draft and see if they can find a few fits on draft day that will help improve that area.  If we could stop the run I think we'd have the makings of a really good D.

The Packers play five bad offenses, three bad QBs, and two mid QBs over the next five games.

They will then have to play some combination of the 49ers, Eagles, and/or Cowboys in the playoffs (assuming they make it). Could be a real quick shift in mood early on in 2024.

There's no sense in arguing anything in this regard with you. You're biased because he was nice to you lol. They got dog-walked up and down the field but held in the RZ. That's not a good performance, that's things breaking right.

Do people just openly forget that Kelce was left alone routinely last night? That we gave up 3rd and 18 and 3rd and 11 like we almost always do? That they punted once? That they ran the ball at a 5.9 YPC clip? They went 7-11 on 3rd down! The fact that nobody was near Noah Gray on an easy touchdown? That we had to waste TOs because he had the wrong personnel on the field?

He sucks .. we all know it, but he's not going to be replaced.  Need to come up with other ways to improve things.

Or maybe he just don't feel he has the personal to play run and pass at a great level simultaneously and he picks his poison to have players on the field that can defend the pass better than the run. I have no idea.

I look at a team like the Panthers, their DC was in the running for the Packers gig and they are 7th in yards allowed but 31st in points allowed. I prefer the Barry defwnce of being 18th in yards and 9th in points

defense has skyrocketed from 28th in DVOA to 18th in the past few weeks.

Have been a totally different unit (for whatever reason(s) lately).

It's prudent to recognize this and account for it. If they keep it up, they'll likely finish as a top 10 DVOA defense despite being a bottom 4 one nearly half-way through the season. Lot goes into it, but if they keep playing like this, Barry is a stone-cold lock to keep his job next year.

What has Joe Barry done that deserves keeping him around? We give up less PPG, but I'd imagine we're right there mid pack or worse in points per drive. Letting every opposing offensive possession take 3-8 mins off the clock is the exact opposite I want for a young, exciting offense.

Every time you play Mahomes or Allen caliber QB, the "take a drink" catch phrase is "well the best defense against them is keeping them off the field." We literally have a DC whose philosophy is to keep our offense off the field too, by playing soft, not allowing explosive plays and tightening up in the red zone. The margin for error last night for an almost flawless Jordan Love game was close to zero because of this defense.

Give me a Spags type DC ANY day of the week over Barry. There's a reason they paired him with Mahomes. That's how you blow teams out and win comfy. Barry, don't let the door hit you.

Signing Joe Barry to an extension ensures Jordan Love doesn't win a SB for the next 3 years. The Fangio defense is a dinosaur and we're trying to keep it around on life support.

Shanny and Sirianni will shred this scheme like a hot knife through butter in the playoffs, so we won't have to worry about this
