Let's talk Bailey Zappe

biggie.

Recommended Posts

Granted his first two starts were against Detroit and Cleveland, the offense has looked a lot more effocient with him under center. He went toe to toe with Aaron Rodgers. Reports indicate he is extremely intelligent and picked up the playbook quickly. He has looked a lot more comfortable than Mac has.

Could Mac Jones get Pipp'd/Bledsoe'd?

Zappe is the real deal. Should of been the 1st QB off the board.

Yeah he looked awesome in college. It was weird how little attention he got.

He broke Joe Burrow TD record and all time season yardage record.

There’s no reason for the Patriots to sit him.

Yup. Mac is pretty good too, but if Bailey keeps it going then he might hold the job. He looks great so far.

Terrible defenses, a dialled-down playbook (probably), only asked to do what they know he can, Parker has improved...

We can't read anything yet. He looks in control, but he's definitely had a better environment these past 2.5 weeks than Mac has had so far

He’s looked better under center in the last 3 games than Jones has since being drafted.

Patriots had no downfield passing for nearly 2 seasons

Collegiate statistical records don't mean a whole lot. Especially when they're not in a power 5 conference.

That said... I don't like Mac Jones and hope Zappe overtakes him.

Watch Mac get traded to the 49ers after Jimmy leaves and Lance plays historically bad next year.

Mac watching that game yesterday thinking "why didn't I have this much time? Why wasn't Jonnu ever this open for me?"

Time to throw, so far this season

Zappe - 9th most in NFL

Jones - 23rd most

Look how open and the pocket

Go to 13 seconds on this; (Zappe to Meyers). There is no Brown within 8 yards of him. Perfect pocket

Intended average air yards thrown;

Zappe - 4th lowest in NFL (6.4)

Jones 2nd most! (10)

So Mac had less time to make throws, but his average air yards is way higher. We have dialled it back, AND played terrible defenses in Mac's absense.

Go back and watch the Miami game where there was absolutely no separation, barely any time to throw.

The OL has really really got their ish together. Same thing happened last year with a rough start and a quick improvement into a top 10 OL again.

I'm not saying I am not happy with Zappe (weyy), I am saying it's smooth-brained to compare the two based on totally different situations
