Think you guys are looking at the job through s&b colored lenses.

You're asking a coach to move a family to the bay "temporarily" before jettisoning the team to Vegas. And what respected coach wants to work for Davis of the Glazers, Mara of the world?

And can we stop with the "storied franchise" nonsense? That was 3 decades ago now. This team has been a laughing stock for over 15 years now. Nobody in the modern NFL care about what this team did in the 70's and 80's.

Here on philly radio they think Oakland is one of the best landing spots as well so it’s not just Raider fans

Yes, they are in Oakland for another 2-3 years. Then they move to Vegas. Not a bad think.

You 2 keep saying no one wants to work for Davis and it's just not true. Just bias from bay fans that don't like him pure and simple. If Mark will cut the check then the coach will come. Good team building blocks and strong front office.

Based off the team having a young QB and defensive MVP, sure. Doubt they take into account ownership structure, Vegas move, etc. which according to the local guys around the organization present the bigger issue.

Of course if he overpays a coach, they will come. And that bias is coming from the media in Oakland? That is where I hear it.

No, not overpays. Just pays up to the league standards like he has already done with Reggie and Jack. And the bias is coming from bay fans and some bay media. Other bay media recognize the hurdles Mark has had to deal with in terms of the Oakland political clusterfrag and stadium authority and commend him on the work he put in and things he accomplished, both thru people he hired and his own effort, in getting the deal done in Vegas.

The move to vegas is two years away and is actually something that you can project happening. Look around the league, there are coaches getting fired 2-3 years in their tenure who will have to move to their next job anyway. The Raiders have had 2 head coaches in the Mark Davis Era and both coaches lasted until their 3rd season at least with Mark even giving an extension to JDR after a wining season. Mark has actually as an owner done a pretty good job and he has shown he isn't impulsive like the Glazers. He isn't telling Reggie who to draft or Jack who to play, sure he has his opinions but he leave it up to the people he hired to get the job done. Meanwhile he has moved the Raiders to the entertainment capital of the world, with zero taxes and a brand new state of the art stadium. If the new coach brings in a winning team he'll be a legend.

Honestly the Raiders have a lot going for them.

  • A supportive owner
  • A average to above average GM
  • Two Franchise Cornerstones
  • A new big stadium in Vegas (with no state taxes so you'll attract FAs)

There has been good stuff from Mercury, SF Chronicle and others. Even from other sites and papers that do slam him, there have been impartial pieces that just report the new updates on the ongoing move story. Everything isn't slamming him. Some of the most vocal bay media guys do slam him and rightly so, they are losing their team. They have a right to be mad but other pieces from their papers and sites detail the entire issue and history of Mark trying to get deals done in different venues and with different investors and the inability of all parties to come to agreements that put the Raiders on equal footing with the other teams in the league.

How did Tice get that kinda pull. And what was Tice problem with him. Did Scott go into any kind of detail?

Tice has always been close with JDR. Even been noted here that Tice was part of initially building the staff. WInters said that he would address the friction between Musgrave and Tice and JDR on his periscope but Tice as always been a Downing fan and got him his start in DET.

Okay.... so Downing is out. Frustration over Tice's involvement with Musgrave, so he's gone likely. Clearly the WR coach is as good as gone. KNJ was fired in season.

Why would JDR stay on as coach exactly at this point? Help me out?

Basically going to have to rebuild the entire staff at this point anyway lol.
