A homer run receiving threat out of the backfield takes this offence to another level. Also, it’s interesting to see where our focus is based on formal interviews at the combine. Corner, TE, RB, and DT standout. Darnell Washington did what we all expected, dominated the combine. I don't think this should change a whole lot. At the moment I’m not on board taking him at 28, to be honest. Haven’t watched him extensively yet, but from what I’ve seen I haven’t been all that impressed. I get Jermaine Gresham vibes. Favorite Mock as it stands right now (which also fits the Bengals profile): 1. Darnell Wright OT Tennessee 2. Zach Charbonnet RB UCLA 3. Sam Laporta TE Iowa 4. Karl Brooks DT Bowling Green A+ IMO. Darnell Wright feels likely if all of the others are gone. But I think you have too many offensive players early. The defensive free agents will all see their contracts run out in the next year or two and it's time to replace them. Give me a RB like Brown (ILL) in the fourth if we draft one. My guess is that they view Volson as the starter. In fact, I think 4 of the 5 spots are locked in (from LT to RG - as unfortunate as that may be). I'd put Volson as 75% Williams at 90% and Cappa and Karras at 100%. We'll see what happens at right tackle.

Malik Wright also thinks the Bengals go defense in round 1. I wouldn't be surprised to seem them go their usual route and draft a corner. THE DUKE
I think CB or OT are the most likely positions we go at 28. It's positions that they value highly and are tough to find. Next most likely I think would be DT, then TE after that, and that's only if they are really enamored with Mayer or Washington. They let Uzomah walk, I don't think they will stretch too much to keep Hurst if he gets pricy. I doubt we take a LB before rd 3. We have ADG in the pipeline, and some people are still high on Bailey as well. They don't have to get a day one starter at LB.

Either way, I want 2 CBs in this draft. One to be the 6th guy, and 1 as a long term replacement for awuzie.
sparky151
We'll likely lose Bates and Pratt in free agency, maybe Apple. I expect Bell, Perine, and Hurst back, along with most of the depth guys. We should be cutting Mixon and looking for a new starting RB and maybe RT. But we can add a few reasonably priced players from elsewhere so the draft should be pretty open for the Bengals. We don't need to find a starter at any particular position in round 1. We should be set on the D-line. We maybe need short term replacements for Mixon and Collins and future replacements for Jonah, Boyd, Pratt, and Awuzie.

THE DUKE
As I read more, post combine, it sounds like Laporta will mostly likely go late rd 2/early rd 3, but who really knows at this point.

THE DUKE
Massive trade down scenarios from the #1 pick are just fun as hell, lol. In this scenario the Bears have 8 2024 first round picks and still have a massively improved line for Fields this year: 23. Peter Skoronski OT Northwestern 33. Dawand Jones OT Ohio State 37. Darnell Washington TE Georgia 39. Zay Flowers WR Boston College 53. Gervon Dexter DT Florida 57. Derick Hall EDGE Auburn 61. Zach Charbonnet RB UCLA 64. Owen Pappoe LB Auburn 132. THE DUKE
Scratch LB off the draft board with Pratt back Wilson Pratt ADG Bailey Bachie A LB will be hard pressed to even make the roster. If we sign a S like Thornhill or Rapp, can say the same thing about that position.
