Championshiporbust
Which head coaches other than Mike Shanahan, Bill Belichick, Bill Parcells and Andy Reid were head coach and general manager/executive vice president of operations at the same time, essentially giving them final personnel and football decisions, and then they report to the owner? I know Vermeil and Martz were GM as well, I know Dennis Green was GM in Minny as well and I know Pete Carroll is GM as well... I know Jimmy Johnson was GM as well in Dallas and Miami... Other names? Sugashane
Bears let their HCs basically be General Managers for years in the late 80s and 90s. Dave Wannstedt was the actual GM too in 1993, then was above his GM. Mike Ditka held more authority than Graves I believe. I believe Jerry Angelo was the first "real" GM the Bears had since Jim Finks. Even then Halas himself was the one that hired Ditka without even consulting him. But he got most of the group from the 80s when they were absolute stacked.

ET80
William O’Brien III. (That’s not his real name, I just think that’s who he turns into when he’s GM).
NYRaider
Gruden was the defacto GM here even though Mike Mayock had the job title.

That is true, he had personnel power and it didn't work for him until the owner fired him in 2002. He did not get that power in NY.
