It’s always been a sound strategy. Especially after the top 70 or so picks.

tasding down from 1 to get more 2 and 3 is very different than more 5 and 7......not even close to the same.

Without that second, I would have preferred more quality than quantity and go up in round three. Seems we’ve got enough backup caliber players on the defense to not need to throw more 5th and 6th round talent at the roster. A mid third or higher may have been more likely to contribute early on versus what is essentially day 3 picks.

They need starters. They are filled with backups, IMO.
