Undrafted Free Agents 2023

Even though it is very early, Pace has the makings to be one of the better draft steals in team history. My only worry is if his play will continue at a high level once Flores leaves. Obviously, Pace is a good player, but how much of that is Flores putting him in the best position possible? Will the next DC try and fit a square peg in a round hole and not scheme to his players' ability?

But so far, he is arguably Kwesi's best signing as GM.

how much (err, little...) do we pay Pace?

Pace fell through all seven rounds of the NFL draft last April before signing a three-year, $2.715 million contract that included $236,000 in guarantees.

I think he's going to be a big beneficiary of the performance based pay bonuses that the NFL hands out each year. He's also quite fortunate. If he had been drafted in the 7th round, he would have had a 4 year contract and would be a year farther from his big payday.

i wonder if Kwesi, a financial analyst at heart, contacted Pace and told him that. not that Pace could have turned down a 7th round selection from a team picking him, but Kwesi might have pointed out the benefit of signing with the Vikings as a UDFA, and Pace appreciated that and turned down other post-draft offers from other teams.

who knows...?

would be a cool story. i'll go ahead and see it as true and spread it around as such. that's how our world works now, it's an alternate fact!

LB IVAN PACE JR., MINNESOTA VIKINGS

One of two undrafted players on this list, Pace has been the perfect fit for Brian Flores’ defense in Minnesota. His 77.2 overall PFF grade leads all qualified rookie linebackers and ranks 17th in the league.

Pace’s trademark blitzing ability has carried over from his days at the University of Cincinnati. His 22.9% pass-rush win rate is the second highest among 85 linebackers with at least 20 pass-rush snaps this season.

Pace can go ahead and change his number from 40 to 0 now that Davenport is off the Lions.

He's off the Lions already before even getting started?   😉
