Portland

Motivation: Coming off an emotional victory against our old QB I wouldn't expect us to be 100% for this game but we'll look to continue our 4 game winning streak.

Portland Offensive Gameplan: Control the LOS, Dominate TOP, Use our RBs to move the chains, Get our WRs in space to make plays.

The Passing Game: This week we take on a pretty solid defense and we'll try to take advanatges of the weaknesses Long Beach has on this side of the ball. Davante Adams will be our no.1 target in the passing game and he should get at least 8+ targets, Sammy Watkins will operate as our deep threat and we'll take a few deep shots with him against single coverage. Jamison Crowder will man the slot and should have a favorable matchup against Budda Baker and we'll try and get Crowder involved as much as possible. We'll use 2 TE sets on a decent amount of snaps to help out in the running game and pass protect against Long Beach's solid d-line we'll also try to get Hooper his usual 5-50-1 statline. LeSean McCoy and Howard will be heavily featured as the engine of our offense and we feel like they're a mismatch against Long Beachs LBs and safeties so we'll try and take advantage of that matchup. Derek Carr should be able to pick apart Long Beach's secondary and I'd expect Long Beach will try to stack the box and if they do we'll focus on taking advantage of that by getting our WRs more involved. We're going to commit more to the run this week but we won't be afraid to go pass heavy if Long Beach comes out stacking the box.

The Running Game: Jordan Howard and LeSean McCoy will more or less be the engine of our offense this week with both of them getting 15+ touches, despite Jordan Howard running into Brick Walls last week I'd expect he'll rebound against Long Beach's front seven. We'll try and get LeSean and Howard heavily involved and use our stud FB to open holes for them in the running game.

The Blocking: No changes to the o-line this week but since we're facing a very good front seven we'll leave a RB/TE in to pass protect or help a decent amount.

TDLR; Get our WRs involved, Get our RBs going, Let Carr pick apart Long Beach.

Portland Defensive Gameplan: Hit Josh McClown, Force Turnovers, Control the LOS.

Pass Defense: Long Beach presents an intresting offense to defend since they have a very good offense overall save for the TE and QB positions, Jimmy Smith will cover DeAndre Hopkins and he'll get some help over the top occassionally. Johnathan Joeseph will man the other outside CB spot while Jason McCourtey mans the slot along with Bashaud Breeland as our no.4 CB. While Josh McClown isn't a great QB he's still capable of putting up good stats and we'll be ready for him to air it out to his WRs and RBs our main goal will be shutting down the passing game and forcing Long Beach to dink and dunk down the field. We'll Blitz McClown on occassion as well and we'll make sure to rotate our back seven quite a bit to keep them fresh, we'll mostly be playing Cover 3 zone with some man coverage mixed in here and there. Daniel Sorenson will get some snaps in 3 safety packages and we'll try and use some Zone Blitzes with him as well.

Run Defense: We've made some adjustments to our d-line this week and going forward Mario Edwards Jr will start at DE with T.J Watt moving to his RL LB position and we'll use Watt as an edge rusher and occasional Blitzer more than anything but he's solid in coverage so he'll cover as needed, Bruce Irvin will move to DE and will rotate with Quinn and Edwards Jr to keep them fresh. We'll rotate our d-line a decent amount to keep them fresh along with using Pierce as a NT on running downs and we'll make sure to get T.J watt and Robert Quinn on the field a bunch to get after McClown. We'll also make some adjustments based on the down and distance, Losing Telvin Smith for this game sucks but we have the depth at LB to not miss a beat, Martinez Takes over as the signal caller for our defense and will make adjustments for the defense if he sees fit, Zach Brown will rotate with T.J Watt at LB as well.

TDLR; Get Pressure on McClown, Shut down their passing game, Get our pass rush going.
