I think it depends on if you think cod can do what Hollings does well enough to justify jettisoning him. I’m not sure there room at edge???

Gary is almost certainly going to be on a pitch count at least early in the year.  No reason to get rid of a legitimate EDGE player.

The only one that matters is Cox on your roster or not?

For me, yes.  But I will admit, he is probably in the gameday inactives for most of the season.

I think the only possible cut candidates that I am worried may be poached are Brenton Cox, Caleb Jones, and Jon Ford.

I will extend even on what CWood said.  I do think that Hollins is better than Cox right now.  And Hollins is only 1.2 against the cap right now.  But he is a free agent after the season, and I think that Cox can be better given a little bit of development time.  So while he said why get rid of a functional edge player, I think both of these two are functional edge players.  I think if we are keeping the best 53, both Hollins and Cox are on the team.

The plan will be for him to sit most of the year, but I'd be shocked if our whole EDGE room was healthy for all 17 games. Also, you'd think he'd work his *** off to get on special teams to become a gameday active more often.

I do not like releasing guys with a gift for getting to the passer. Brooks and Wooden look like they have some pass rush to them as well. I don't expect a ton from any of them this year, but if they develop, which i think they can, watch out.

Did anyone's roster thoughts change after this game?

I really don't think mine did at all.  I don't think that anyone played their way on or off my roster from today's contest.

The only thing that I may see happening is cutting or trading Nijman to save 4 million on the cap.  But I don't see the why behind doing that.  What are they going to spend that money on at this point?

Has Walker passed Nijman on the depth chart? He started the past two weeks at LT.

Did Nijman play today? If he didn't play, that would be an interesting development.

I don't know if Walker has passed Nijman or not.  They definitely have been giving Walker more chances and it seems to be at the expense of Nijman.  And if they are equal we are talking a 4.3 million contract vs an 890K contract, with more years of cheap control.  That part makes sense.  But just like Hollins and Cox, I don't like the idea of giving away a functional player. And it isn't like we are hurting for cap space, OTC has us with 13.8 and Spotrac has us with 12.2.

Gaines got burned on that TD and safety is one of the cloudier position battles. The thing is he is a core ST guy. In the end, I think we can retain any of the other safeties on the 69 so not fearing cuts there.
