Luke Getsy got TEs not named Cole Kmet a grand total of 8 catches the last 2 years in Chicago.

In Green Bay, the numbers were hardly better.

Everyone yapping about using them in tandem a'la Gronk and Hernandez are just trying to justify being fanboys. Literally nothing about the makeup of this team from the OC to the QB to what the HC says he wants the identity of the offense to be says that's likely.

And as soon as he got a good one he utilized the crap out of him:

HOFer.  With all the other talent on the board he better be a HOFer with a 2nd round TE from last year on the roster.  A TE that many on here loved as a prospect.  What can we expect from Mayer next year, 25 receptions?

4.

That's how many catches TE2 got under Getsy each year in Chicago.

Everyone in here pretending Getsy "loves" TEs and 2 TE sets. Really now? He does, eh? Not what the stats say at all.

100 percent.  The pick lacks logic considering Getsy's prior #2 TE usage unless the front office knows Mayer is a bust. As a #2 TE he will be lucky to get 25 receptions next year.

Getsy didn’t have another TE like this. So those 8 catches or whatever you said is invalid.

Clear example of not gonna be able to make everyone happy. Even when they land a top 5 talent.

Bowers is our #1 TE, that is now clear but is Mayer a bust?

I'm not sure why we are trying to justify the Mayer draft pick. This staff did not draft him and could easily just not like him as much as Bowers. Saw Bowers as an upgrade. That's the end of it. A waste of a draft pick on a number 2 tight end and the consequence of turning over front offices yet again.

He also had virtually nothing else to work with in terms of weapons.

We have no idea if he loves TEs or just had a crap QB who used security blankets.

We do know that AP wants to be run heavy, he said so.

We do know that Getsy doesn't utilize 2 TEs effectively or even often.

We do know that we just spent a 2nd on a TE we were told by every McZeigler apologist on this board was a slam dunk to be a heavily used TE.

Notice a pattern?

You've clearly not watch Brock Bowers play. He's a WR who happens to play TE. He's a compliment not a replacement to Mayer.

I posted earlier about who usually starts the thread.

I normally do but had a long day today at work.  I put it together with the links to previous years.

Factz. If you reach for need everybody complains. If you get BPA everybody complains.

Brock Bowers can be an elite player and pick whether we use Michael Mayer or not. If Mayer is good enough he'll get on the field. If not, he was going to suck and bust anyways.
