There's never been a stud in 17 years in the Gute/TT era to leave after his rookie deal. I don't care if Howard got 28, Jaire is getting inked long-term.

Trade the best CB in the game because someone else got paid, just dumb.

I'm not saying they should.  JFC you guys are bitchy lately.

Never say never.  Everybody has a price.  If Philly offered up 2 1st in this years draft would you bite?

Why do the packers wait on this stuff? Like I get it… likely Alexander’s camp waited this out but still.

the only positive is I think there is an argument to have that Howard is better. So they can maybe get Alexander for less.

When did Howard become better corner than Jaire?

Fiscal responsibility is never a dumb thing. You can't pay very player at the top of the food chain for their position. Might be time for a new way of doing business.

Let's not forget he's coming off of a year where he didn't play much because of a shoulder. WE, guys and gals on a message board, do not know what that injury is or how it may affect him going forward.

Look at the bright side, if we trade him for a couple of 1st round picks, it increases the likelihood Rodges may change his mind and want to get traded yet. A guy can dream.

Hell no. Who are you going to get in the teens better than Jaire?

Who are you going to get at 22 and 53 or whatever that aere better than Davante? That's not the point. Paying multiple non-QBs 20m+ deals is for teams with rookie contract QBs. Would you rather pay Gary or Jar?

You won't.  But you can get 2 very good players in return.  You also avoid paying out 25 mil/season.  He's just like Adams you aren't going to replace him.  Secondary held up pretty well without him last year.  We can get by.  Draft Stingley and Olave with those two picks.  So which is better.  2 high impact players on rookie deals or Alexander at 25 mil/season.

Not going to happen and don't worry the Packers aren't going to trade him.  Worst case he plays out his 5th year option and they either work it out or we tag him.  Alexander deserves top 5 money.  No doubt but it's been crazy this offseason.  Some contracts getting thrown around are insane.  Makes it really hard to get deals done.

You pay them both.

Structure the deals so you can push cap forward.

Cap is going up.  Players and agents know it.

Some teams are reluctant to make that commitment to young players.  GB did with a much older player which is a bit harder to navigate the cap ramifications of that big contact

We've done that already.  Like massively.  There are limits.  What are we going to do when the bill comes due?  Release half the team to get under the cap?  Nah man choices will have to be made.  Can't keep them all.

In 2024 and 2025, who are the big salaried players that are likely going to be worth keeping?

Go look at the stats the last 3 years… Howard has more INTs, PD, FF and the played very similar amount of games….

Look Jaire is amazing… Howard has played just as well as Jaire and has created more big plays while doing it.

so when hasn’t he been better?

Not to mention JA missed most of last season due to injury.  This is a big factor as well.  Will it affect his tackling and will that shoulder hold up?  Pack may just kick it down the road and see how he comes back and plays in 2022 before shelling out a massive contract.  The extra cap space by getting a deal done now would be nice but if JA's side isn't playing ball well then we should just wait.  Haven't heard anything about the negotiations other than they are working on it.  So who knows?

Clark, Gary, Jenkins to name a few.  Can't really look that far ahead.  We'll always have guys who need to get paid.  We'll be getting a huge dead cap hit when Rodgers hangs it up.  I don't even know what the cap ramifications are we have pretty much restructured and pushed out dead money with about every player we can.  We are setting up for a tank year where we have to do a purge of the cap at it won't be pretty.  Got a few more years with Rodgers then the bill will come due.
