My thought process behind it is instead of overpaying for morgan burnett, i see Barron as being more versatile and helping with coverage in dime and nickel packages on the TE or RB's out of the backfield instead of seeing ryan/martinez.  Ideally i see Josh Jones being very similar to Barron but just gives us some veteran prescence there. Just my 2 cents and was spit balling an idea. thanks

We have Josh Jones, who I'd argue is a better fit moving forward for what we want to do.  Barron is overrated and overpaid.

OG/IOL

Zane Beadles (Cap number $3.5M)

Laken Tomlinson (Cap number $1.6M)

Ted Larsen (Cap number $1.5M)

Laken Tomlinson -- day 3 pick

Ted Larsen -- day 3 pick, might be able to do a 6th

I like either of these players as a IOL option for a day 3 pick.  Larsen was a center in college, so having someone with that experience to back up Linsley would be nice.  Tomlinson was a former 1st round pick.  Has some tools and maybe Campen could get the best out of him.

I liked Tomlinson coming out but he's been a bust really. Do u see something in him or the 2 situation s he's been in for the reason.? In fairness campen has worked wonders before

Nothing really from Tomlinson.  I did like him coming out as well.  Not sure if the system or the surrounding cast has been an issue with his play.  I think securing an IOL before UFA would be good.  Using a day 3 pick is a pretty good price for the salary that each has.

Of the 2, I might lean Larsen due to the history of playing center and GB does not have a real back up to Linsley for that on the roster.  I would look at Larsen to be the primary backup IOL in addition to competing for the RG starting spot with Murphy, McCray, Amichia, etc

Seems good to me. With regards to the clowney deal the more I look at it the more I'd be in favour of Dee Ford and keeping pick 14.

Is 1 year of clowney better then having Ford as the #3olb while picking the best pass rusher available at 14. That player could either get limited snaps and develop through year 1 or else move above Ford in the depth chart and we'd still have him on a cheap contract for 4 more years. We'd also still have a tradable asset in bulaga or we could still keep him if the value wasn't their.

Just seems like a lot to give up for an albeit excellent 1 year rental. Especially if we need to penny pinch to give arod his new deal. I may be off though so any thoughts.?

Clowney will be a high price.  GB's 1st + additional

Ford would cost a 4th

I messaged BAL on Za'Darius Smith

Some 4-3 DE that are on the trade block.  Anthony Zettel is on a rookie deal and would be a nice pass rush option from a situational perspective.  Wes Horton is another that might be an option.

Dee Ford is bad. I wouldn't give up a 4th to pay him that much money. Also with Clowney, Houston is asking for too much. If he was on a longer deal, sure. Otherwise we're giving up too much for a player you can compete for next year in FA.

I don't like the Ford salary.  Any thoughts on ZaDarius Smith, Anthony Zettel?

Ford and Clowney are the only ones that interest me.

Clowney is a stud, I'd offer 1st +Bulaga. Really as high as we can go. They already gave away that #14 is the highest pick they've been offered. No reason to bid against ourselves.

Ford is a year removed from a double digits sack and almost 20 hurry season. He is not bad by any means. His salary is high, but I like that it's a one year option, that's not a long term deal. He probably would get 6-7m on the open market. That said, a 5th is max for me on him.
