vike daddy
The NFL fined Cardinals offensive lineman Alex Boone $18,231 for a horse collar tackle. Washington linebacker Preston Smith intercepted Cardinals quarterback Blaine Gabbert with 1:50 remaining in the first half Sunday. Boone brought down Smith with a horse collar tackle after an 18-yard gain. It cost the Cardinals another 15 yards, but Washington lost a fumble on the ensuing snap. The Cardinals lost 20-15. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/12/22/alex-boone-fined-18231-for-horse-collar/

I saw it, and it was Kramer-esque...losing 17 yds when he maybe should have lost 8.

vike daddy
Via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are discussing whether to add another backup to T.J. Yates, as acbkup Taylor Heinicke suffered a concussion while Yates was being tested for a concussion last week. “We’re talking about that right now,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said. “Obviously Taylor’s in the protocol, but we haven’t made a decision on that yet.” http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/12/27/texans-are-probaby-going-to-need-another-quarterback-this-week/ Heinicke finding yet another door closed for him.... vike daddy
The Bills activated safety Colt Anderson off injured reserve. Anderson began practicing with the Bills last week. He spent 12 weeks on injured reserve after fracturing a forearm against the Falcons in Week 4. Anderson has become a core special teams player in his two seasons in Buffalo. He played 27 snaps on special teams — none on defense — in the first four games of this season. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/12/28/bills-activate-colt-anderson-from-injured-reserve/

vike daddy
I’ve joked a few times on PFT Live that, if Jon Gruden returns to coach the Buccaneers, he may hire former Tampa Bay quarterback Chris Simms to join the staff. As it turns out, Gruden may return to coach the Raiders. And he may hire a former Raiders quarterback to join the staff. Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Rich Gannon’s name keeps coming up as Gruden makes calls to round up potential members of a coaching staff. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/12/31/rich-gannon-may-join-jon-gruden/
vike daddy
A year after leading the Raiders to their first playoff berth in more than a decade, Jack Del Rio's run in Oakland is over. Del Rio announced that owner Mark Davis told him after the Raiders loss to the Chargers that he was fired. Del Rio, who received a four-year contract extension from the Raiders in February, posted an 18-13 mark with the franchise. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000901236/article/raiders-fire-jack-del-rio

vikingsrule
Del Rio is a terrible HC. Good move for Oakland. Dumping Musgrave and letting Norton run the defense did him in. Gruden to Oakland?
