SteelKing728
That's crazy. Dr James Andrews is a very renowned doctor, isn't he? I'm almost positive he did a lot of good for Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson here.

vike daddy
Floyd’s suit alleges he suffered permanent nerve and muscle damage as a result of an arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Sept. 22, 2016, at the Andrews Institute in Pensacola, Fla. The operation was performed by Andrews. The lawsuit alleges a pain blocker was negligently administered into Floyd’s nerve, leading to “significant loss of function in his knee musculature,” Sohn said on the phone Monday night. Floyd is seeking in excess of $180 million in damages based on what current top NFL defensive tackles are projected to make over the course of their careers. The Vikings are not defendants in the lawsuit, according to Sohn, who added members of the team’s medical staff could be deposed if the case goes to trial. http://www.startribune.com/former-vikings-defensive-tackle-sharrif-floyd-to-file-180-million-dollar-lawsuit/499745041/
swede700
I imagine he won't end up getting that much, but he'll still get a pretty sizeable chunk of change. It'll never end up in court, as they'll likely settle on a lower number...it'll all depend on their negotiations with Andrews' med mal insurance company. SemperFeist
Well, considering that he was 24 when the surgery took place, he likely lost 10+ years of NFL earnings. $180M over 10 years is basically the high end of pay for his position. So, it’s a fair starting point, IMO. My guess is that he’ll settle for somewhere in the neighborhood of half, which would likely be in line with what his career earnings would have been. Quite the honor for Page to receive, it seems the current president is more willing to honor the achievements of NFL players than previous presidents. Hard to believe that no other NFL player has received this honor up until now so kudos to the current president in making this recognition.

Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end and Minnesota Supreme Court justice Alan Page has never hidden his feelings about the current political climate. But he’s not going to let his personal feelings for President Donald Trump stand in the way of receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom Friday at the White House. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the nation’s highest honor for a civilian, and Page will be joined by former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach at the ceremony. Page: “That’s going to be an experience that I’m going to have to go through. My vision of the world is the same today as it was a year ago, and the year before that. But this medal, this honor is far more important than my personal beliefs, my personal likes and dislikes. The politics of it, that’s something that at this point is not important to me. What’s important is trying to make this world a better place and literally that is my focus.” The honor is bittersweet for Page, coming shortly after the death of his late wife Diane. But he hopes he can raise awareness for his educational foundation, which has raised more than $14 million for scholarships since its founding in 1988. Page: “Trying to insure that every child has the opportunity to learn. The work that both of us have done with respect to racial, gender and social justice, trying to insure that everybody gets treated equally and fairly and to shine a light on those who helped us get here, helped us do the things that we’ve done. We all stand on the shoulders of somebody in accomplishing whatever we do.” And he won’t let his personal feelings stand in the way of spreading that message, which makes it even more powerful. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/11/14/alan-page-to-put-politics-aside-to-attend-white-house-ceremony/
