Laugh all you want. We missed out on three absolute difference makers. No matter how good Scherff is we still can't run the ball so it doesn't really mean much.

I agree with your first statement, but the second is debatable.  We can run the ball when we want to, but Gruden chooses not to.  Let's ignore 2017 (when everyone was injured) and look at 2016.

BTW guys those Oline stats were with Spencer Long and Shawn Lauvao starting, guys that everyone wants to drive out of town and replace with a #13 overall pick.  Long and Lauvao aren't star players but they're serviceable.  In a league with a salary cap you can't have a probowler at every position.  Using the 13th pick on another position would likely have a much bigger impact on the team than another Guard.  There's only so much better our Oline can be.

Thank you. People need to look at different stats than just the yards we gained and realize that the running game has more parts to it than just the OL blocking.

I'd love to keep Spencer Long around. Lauvao can go. He was a giant waste of money.

My question is, would you have been so down on Lauvao if he was making $2 million a year? It’s not Lauvao’s fault Bruce Allen overpaid for him.

If we can get both Long and Lauvao back w/o paying either over $2 million a year we should do it. They’re both serviceable starters.

I'm done with long and laveou.

time to upgrade with more bigger talented offensive lineman .

Long (6’5, 318) and Lauvao  (6’3, 315) are huge. I’m certainly for upgrading them if we can but not for using a 1st round pick to do so or paying over $10 million a year for their replacement.

So he had one decent season,All Scherf has done is be a reliable starter,ok we should have gone with the one season wonder lol

Well he’s had a good rookie year - as good as or better than Scherff - a pro bowl 2nd year and then got doubled more in his 3rd year because Richardson was traded away and because of how well he played in 2016.

You can’t just go by stats to determine if an interior lineman is impactful, you have to watch them play.

He also played more NT than in years passed, battled a wrist injury during the year and then had a concussion in week 15. So, much like Scherff, he started the year off strong but injuries affected him the second half of the 2017 season. And regardless of that Williams was still a dominant force against the run and pass by PFF’s rankings which had him ranked as the 11th best DE in the NFL.

Jets DE Leonard Williams has cleared the concussion protocol.
He should be all systems go against the Chargers. Although Williams' sacks are down this year (2.0), he has remained a dominant force against both the run and pass and is PFF's No. 11-rated 3-4 defensive end among 45 qualifiers. Fri, Dec 22, 2017 01:10:00 PM

Not so much drive them out of town as they are driving themselves and the front office with them.

Spencer Long is going to be asking for a lot of money per year, ~6-8M AAV. That is a lot for a guy that played C when we have Chase Roullier who is significantly cheaper. He wasn't all that great at G which is why we moved him to C. Now, if this were me, and I am glad its not, I would move Sherff to LG and Long to RG if he was a bit cheaper.

I don't think that Nelson is going to be there at 13, and I would rather go with Hernandez than Nelson for 2 reasons:

1. Cheaper

2. Too many other good players at the 13 spot in order to take or trade back for. And I am hoping the latter.

I think Hernandez sneaks into the back end of the first round.  So I don't think he'll be there for our 2nd.  If we trade down in the first maybe him or Price become a possibility.

If Nelson is sitting on the board @13, I'm running up to the podium & selecting him.

Otherwise, I think we should consider trading back for more picks.

With the number of QB's going early this year, we stand a good chance of 1 or more still sitting there @13.

We could trade back to the 20's & still have viable options waiting for us.

Players like DT's Vita Vea or Payne.....RB's Guice, Michol or Chubb.... Or Wr Christian Kirk, or that Safety (can't remember name?), etc.

I think this team should strongly consider trading back.
